The following might be slightly offensive, but should not be taken as such, instead, its an expression of a lot of frustration thats been building up over the last few months. Please read the whole post before commenting.
Why is it that allthough ppl in great numbers applauded the idea of the speed run? It seams most of you cant even be arsed to sign up. To me, and the other Field Marshals, this is just another slap in the face, considering all the work some of the Field Marshals have allready put into to this. Tbh, i am starting to wonder why i ever was crazy enough to take this job if ppl just dont care about anything thats done.
You guys want a lot, solid raids, leadership, tactics, and what not more, it takes hours and hours of work to provide all this, and we dont get paid for it, we do this for fun, at least show some appreciation for f***s sake, and bother to show up. So far over last few months (the speed run just beeing the last nail) ppl have shown not to care in anyway anymore.
So next time i have a bright idea and decide to stick arround to provide the best possible for you lads, and become GM, some1 shoot me please.
- Bastet
Ps; I would like to thank all the members that did show up, and did put in the time and effort to make our raids happen, and i am deeply ashamed we had to call quite a few raids over the last few months. I hope you will help us, the officers, to make a solid and strong RG(s) in TBC.
On 22nd December we posted the announcement for the MC Speed Run, probably our last MC run for some considerable time.
Unfortunately we have had only 29 SOG members signed up as available for the necessary practice hour tonight including only 1 priest and only 2 mages.
For the actual speed run itself we have only 32 SOG members signed and confirmed as available.
The MC Speed Run is therefore CANCELLED. It is truly a sorry state of affairs when a Guild with almost 100 raiding members cannot field a team to take on and challenge for the MC World Record - and believe me that's what we're capable of doing if we could ever be bothered to sign up and turn up.
Words currenlty fail me as to how disappointed I am. Several members questioned if we would get enough members together for the run and I naively confirmed that we would - I even had talks with Genesis to invite ex-SOG members back to make up the numbers if we were short in one or two places, but the enormity of our own under-performance is so staggering that even this outside help will not allow us to field a full raid squad.
To those who PM'd me and then relied on my reply and spent gold on flasks etc, please send them to me COD. I gave you my word that the run would go ahead and I do not wish to see you out of pocket on my account.
We have missed the opportunity to write SOG into the record books and into history. Once TBC comes out, the World Record will stand, nobody else will be able to break it and its a crying shame that we threw away the opportunity to write SOG's name into the record books through apathy and disinterest.
TL.
This is realy unrespectfull to those who put effort into this, damned guys/girls......
Do me a favor, come with an idea and arange it yourself as all this time could be put into something else.... they have a social live as well.....
D, disappointed and signing out of this thread...
 Luckily I've red this just before entering the game...I was going to respec Full Restoration for the Run
I was looking forward to the MC Speed Run, but unfortunatly it is not going to happen, sadly :(
And I am signed up but not confirmed - so that makes it 33 people able to join ;)
Meh.. Although I've been abscent a lot the last few months due to RL stuff and such Im planning to return.. I have not experienced what you guys talk of myself due to this abscense but I feel for you.. It has been mentioned many times before that the leaders of this great guild but a lot of free-time and hard work into making SOG what it is, but somehow it doesn't get through everywhere..
I am not a big fan of strict rules and harsh discipline and I've always seen SOG as a guild which in theory should be in no need of such, but as time goes by and more and more threads about the lack of commitment appear, I am no longer so sure..
Yes we are not a hardcore raiding guild, but for this guild to function properly it seems that changes has to be done. Commitment is needed even though we're all different people. When You join SOG you are expected to show some kind of commitment and support (imho anyways).
I am truly sorry that I could not be there for the Speed run (my reasons are mentioned elsewhere on the forum) and I hope nobody holds a personal grugde for me (silly as my reasons might be, and what little change I would have made if Id been there).
To see SOG enter the history books of World of Warcraft is something I would have loved to see done and be a part of.
And Teaelle.. It can hardly be your fault that you believed in the guild and it let you down. It is a damn shame that some of the commiting people of the guild has to spend money on something they believe in and then not get the chance to do it, but please don't blame yourself on this one.
(Im not blaming any specific people here btw.. Just wanted show my support)
Some people had reasons for not being there and some didn't, and I care little about who - I love ya'll anyways, we're family :)
EDIT: Meh just read it through and again and suddenly feel very old and cranky :sideways:
Sry to hear that..
I am one of those that didn't sign up.. I have a lot to see to atm, so I would rather join "late", so to speak, to be sure I would attend rather than cancel my sign-up..
Never thought it would be a problem getting ppl to join.. I was more worried that there wouldn't be a spot, when and if I found out if I could attend..
Quote from: Akall;171704:sad: Luckily I've red this just before entering the game...I was going to respec Full Restoration for the Run
That would have been a real waste yes. :(
Shame we couldn't show the rest of the world SoG is the best.
I'm also one of those who didn't sign. I didn't sign because, last MC speed run was for those with good gear, mostly RG1 members who have something to say in such runs, so I didn't bother to sign up and get not accepted as before. Thought there will be others with better gear and experience than me for the run.
I am a little disappointed mainly having just forked out 200g for pots...but hey ho.
Signing up never hurts if you know you can make it.. Not signing up because you think that better equipped members will be plentyfull is a tad silly.. Take one for the team..
Besides.. Better equipment isn't everything :flirty:
Quote from: StrontiumDog;171718but hey ho.
Yes? What do you wish my dark lord?
Quote from: StrontiumDog;171718I am a little disappointed mainly having just forked out 200g for pots...but hey ho.
It's probably not helping anything Stront, But atleast you can use those pots good when TBC comes out, for leveling etc. =)
Im dissapointed too that ppl do not sign up for this. Thursday is a official Raid night. Ok raiding have been cancelled untill TBC, but we where able to fill up almost 2 RG before, i know alot of RG1 left, but we still have plenty off ppl left.
This is one of the reasons i have been thinking about changing guilds for a while now. The verry bad attendance, and the unvillingness to partisipate in guild events/raids.
And im afraid that this will continue into TBC. My goals are to raid min of 3 times a week, and to be in a guild that have good progress in new instances. Im not looking for a new guild ATM, but if this continues in TBC, i will stop raiding in SoG, and send out aplications to guilds where the members take raiding serious.
I cannot commend the officers enough for the jobb they do. They do a hell of a jobb, and it's sad to see that ppl do not apriciate it.
Im hoping for some new changes in the raiding groups wich will incorporate a faster removal of ppl that do not focus and turn up noumorus times. The leaneance that have been given the last 6 months to ppl that have been abscent on raid days, and not given a reason for there abscense must stop. I know SoG is not a "hard core" raiding guild. But canceling Raid Days because of to few ppl is not acceptible anymore for me. Im getting too tierd of it.
So for TBC i urge the officers to set new stricter rules for the new "RG1" group.
Jan-Tore
EDIT:
Just to let u all know, i do not wan't to leave SoG, but if the cancelling of raids continues into TBC im forced to leave SoG, since i have goals to advence quite fast in the new instances. Wich i now SoG can do, with the "right" ppl.

And a few of us (ex SoGers) even were gonna help out if it was gonna continue JT :)
Too bad it didn't work out.
Respect to all the officers for all the work they've done in trying to make this work. Unlucky it's not gonna happen. :(
oi! Dajo.. you aint no 'ex-SOG'.. you didn't leave right? and now Im back so you're coming back to.. And that final..
@ JT: I understand what you're saying there, and I find myself thinking unfaithful thoughts like that aswell, but after two years, I wouldn't think of SOG as one of the guilds that'll end up falling apart.. We can deal with these changes TBC brings along.. We have to..
SOG ftw!
What a dissapointed, spent a lot of gold in preparation for the run even was going to respecc to a more raiding spec.... but worst of all is to have thrown to the bin the chance to set a new standard in WoW and write SoG into the record book...
Have Genesis members been warned? i just spoke keisuke he was just about to respec for the run.
ahh dammit, i was looking forward to this.
shame. Luckly all the pots I have already collected are the ones I will use in normal raiding, was going to use wednesday to get all my final pots together
Dont we all play to have fun??

Yes Lumi, they have. But thanks for you're concern. :) :thumb:
@ Nefertem: I'm afraid I have to tell you I indeed am an Ex-SoG, I posted my leaving in my take a break from raiding post.

You can't blame the members that didnt sign up imo. They might have had more important things to do. And you cant blame them for TL leaving just because he states that as a reason. TL dont know why they didnt sign up.

an action leads to a consequence, and this particular action lighted up a fuse

really? you should know that i trust teaelle, ive known him before anyone from sog that wasnt a dmw before wow was launched, and he never said a lie to me, so you tell me why on earth i shouldnt believe that as a reason if he states so?
and yes i do blame certain ppl which will never be mentioned, and yes we were close to downing c'thun (especially after going to phase2 on our 1st real try night on him, yeah other guilds spend weeks trying to get to that level, yet we wasted our opportinity like ****ing idiots)
we had the same problem back at domo, and at ragnaros, we has the same problem back at razorgore, and at nefarion, we also had a slight problem with the same ****ing reason at the twins, and now cos of this big chain reaction there are 23 persons in the guild still under the guardian rank, and trust me, ime seriousely ****ed off about this
and no doubt some other old members feel the same way as i do, because most of rg1 is dead, not to mention most of my close friends in wow are leaving the guild because of the same bloody reason
and please dont be offended by any way, ime just releasing the anger i have in me and i feel better now, still ime extremely ****ed off

I'm not saying that TL is lying, just that he can't be 100% sure what people are doing and there reason not to sign up. I'm also a tad mad, because I would like to do a speed run, but I'm not blaming anyone.
Gorion, take a breather m8, you might blow up or something  If you want to talk, gimme a howler on MSN/IG
