Hello there,
Quick question, I got a new Maestro debit/service card recently, but I'm having problems with it. Works fine in an ATM (if thats anyway related to the maestro part of the card) but I tried buying from play.com and theAA over the internet/phone and it wouldnt work with either. Got card rejected and invalid number (but im certain I put in the right number). It worked with paypal though.
Do some cards give problems? Phoned the bank and the guy said he can't see any problems and to try purchasing in the shop... Otherwise phone back and they will send a new one.
Some sites accept credit cards but not debit cards. You also have to be careful as to the type of card you claim it is. I have a VISA card and have been caught out in the past by selecting VISA instead of VISA Debit Card. Just a thought.
Thanks, Play.com says they accept Maestro. I think they are exclusivly debit cards too
Bit of a long shot but has anybody else successfully used a maestro card with the AA or play.com?
I allways use my Creditcard for play.com, never had a problem.
I always use creditcards for online purchases, simply for the added security you have if something goes wrong.
I am asking specifically about Maestro branded cards(ie: vs Visa, Mastercard, Switch). Has anybody successfully made payments to play.com with one?
I am trying to ascertain if this a problem with my individual card so I can ask my bank for a new one.
Thanks you :p
AFAI can remember I have and it worked ok.
At the risk of sounding patronising, are you sure you're putting down all the digits, issue number, expiry date, security code etc?
Yep, though my maestro card doesn't have an issue number
I've successfully used VISA debit when the category was VISA credit (and specified that a debit card was not acceptable) and tbh VISA always seems to work okay for me :) VISA ftw! :D

If there is a gap for an issue number just try sticking in 1. Might work...
