Title: US Prices
Post by: Benny on January 14, 2007, 09:34:29 AM
I'm off to the US at the end of the month for a few days on business. Is it worth me trying to buy anything.....like maybe a graphics card?  I've nosed about and although my x1300 does what it needs, it's not glorious.

I can get away with it as I'll be putting it on a cc so the missus won't see it, but obviously I don't want to spend too much.

Or shall I stick to trainers and jeans as purchases.

Oh and has anyone been to St Louis?

As $ is not that expensive now I think you will find some things quite cheap. A friend of mine went completely haywire on camera equipment when he was over there. Tip is to check the internet for stores local to your destination and compare prices.

IIRC its about $2 to the £ at the moment, so I would get involved, especially if you can bring it back yourself. Just watch out for how you pack stuff with the old x-rays an all...

So the saving looks to be about £70 here and there, so given I have a single core and I think my board supports dual, shall I buy a dual and hold off on a card.

I believe AMD are pushing quads soon so the price may drop, should I wait? And also I guess there's no point in buying a card that's not DX10?

So I'll carry on...

looking at this http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=80730&prodlist=shopping
which comes in at around £220 as opposed to around £350 here...unless anyone knows different?
