Title: Please test...
Post by: Anonymous on January 17, 2007, 12:16:36 PM
Part of our requirement for taking part in ED CS matches is to run an anti-cheat tool called zBlock. The previous version of this (2.x) was, how can I put it, highly effective because it wouldn't let anybody join the server unless they had certain parameters set in their configs. This is obviously unacceptable to us as a community where we rely on new people finding us and staying. Consequently, we chose to deliberately NOT run zBlock on our servers.

Now, however, there is a new version of zBlock (3.x) and I have installed this on Meathook. I have been able to connect to MH and play without any silly config lines added to my setup files and I was not kicked or blocked. it would appear, therefore, that the new version works. Can I ask as many people as possible to please try to connect to Meathook over the next few days so that we can confirm that there are no issues. If it works well we would intend to put zBlock on Boomer as well as it stops cheaters from exploiting server variables to wallhack etc.

Many thanks for your help and if you could post back here with any probs that would be cool :)

rgds,

The admins.

zBlock is designed to ensure players are using DX9 or higher as there are exploits that take advantage of some DX7/DX8 features. Have you restricted the game to run in an older DX level (via command line or configs) or is it the case that you have an old graphics card that maybe doesn't support DX9.

There has been a new version of zBlock released (3.0.1) which now supports DX8 (don't ask me why but there you go)

I have put it on the server so if you could try that to make sure it works for you?

Quote from: MeatHook Server running zBlock 3.0.1Disconnect: Kicked by Console : zBlock - 'cl_restrict_server_commands' must be set to 0.

Got this when I tried.

It looks as if we STILL have the need to put:

cl_restrict_server_commands 0

in our config.cfg files :(

I'm removing zBlock until we decide what to do - either ask everyone to add that to their config or ditch zBlock.

Youre not a burden, everyone is getting it unless they have:

cl_restrict_server_commands 0

in their config files!

Nah, I think that's a Steamfault.
I had to use that line before a match and we couldn't get a few people more on because of it.:eyebrow:
