Title: LfS Server - port changed
Post by: OldBloke on January 25, 2007, 12:56:07 PM
As you're probably aware we've suffered some discons recently where a few racers have been dumped out of the server. My investigations seem to suggest that this could be being caused by ISPs port throttling P2P traffic which is affecting LFS due to its default port being adjudged as a possible P2P port.

So, to try and eliminate this from the discon puzzle I've changed the port to 27010. As this is known to be a gaming port of note it is usually left untouched.:flirty:

I've tried connecting to our server and the change appears to be seamless but you may find you need to find us again in the masterlist.

I managed to join via the 'Specific Server' button, no problem. Does this affect insim at all? You can tell I know nothing about such things. :)

Won't affect Insim.

I've changed the port again to 27000

This is to ensure that no clash ensues with the Counterstrike players.

Wonder if that was affecting last night? I'll see if things change.

I wondered that but the IP address is different so couldn't see how it might affect the CS servers. Still, worth a try.:)
