QuoteQ. How large will Black Mesa be when it released?
A. Current estimates place the final build around 4GBs.

Q. How much will Black Mesa cost?
A. Black Mesa is a free modification, the developers will never charge you for playing this, mainly because we wouldn't want to make people pay to play, but also the fact it would be illegal to do so. Basically, as long as you have a copy of both HL2 and CSS, Black Mesa will cost you nothing.
Yay thats all i wanted to know, bring it on (http://www.futuremark.com/forum/images/smilies/excited.gif)
looks quite nice
I've been following development of this mod for over a year, as can be seen here -> http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=12048, and it's looking mighty fine! :dribble: When I first came across it I was afraid it was going to be one of these grand mod ideas that never amounted to anything more than a few concept sketches and maybe a half made level or two, but they're really going at it.
Can't wait.
aye, one of the mods i am looking forward too! Kinda lost track of it though when it ran into all the problems w/ leaks and stuff. They went silent for a long time.
any idea when its coming out?
They're going with the good old "When It's Done", and good on 'em for it too. I'd rather wait 3 years for this and have it awesome from the get-go than have it come out in 6 months and be full of bugs.
My initial thought was "why bother" but after the teaser trailer and watching some screenies... well... this is looking good :D
Just listened to the soundtrack playing on the homepage. Good!
does look cool ill be getting it when it comes
It should be a well thought out revamp of black mesa i look forward to playing it :D.
Ahh, can't wait =D
Allways been a big Half-life fan, played it for several years. WoW is gonna collect some dust when it comes ;)
Well its finally been dubbed for 2009 and the official trailer looks simply awesome. It was worth the wait it seems :D

still cant wait to see this
Looks well worth checking out. If they're as good at modding as they are cutting together trailers that is.
I want it now, it looks good! I was going to check its progress last night but got distracted. I thought (maybe still think) it's the Duke Nukem Forever of the modding world.

That is a strong way to put it :flirty:
Check this out TRAILER (http://www.blackmesasource.com/) :yahoo:
Omg that looks fantastic!
Sure brings back memories :O
I'll bump this, because well....it is...still coming...right? I'll check again anyone know if this is still coming? I can't deal (http://www.groupon.co.uk/) with waiting any longer
last update on their site was 700 days ago....so probably not
Your avatar still really disturbs me :eyebrow:
I for one never thought this was ever going to be released, but it looks like there's life left in the old dog yet!
Too late? does anyone care any more? no idea -

I'll probably try it out (if it does actually launch this time). However it would have been far more impressive a few years ago...

What he said, way over hyped and took way too long,

Hey, it beat HL2 Episode 3 - the "frequently released episodes" we were promised dried up without apology.
At least Black Mesa will still run. Getting some older titles to work can be a pain.
Carmageddon Reincarnation is my next big calendar date...
even made the bbc news

I never got around to completing the original half life, i feel ashamed.

Well now you can almost complete this remake...(ending still to come)
If you want this on steam, go & give it a thumbs up -

2nd this motion
There's so many games over the years I've started & couldn't be arsed to finish, steam sales don't help, half the games on there I've hardly touched :/

For every 10 games I buy I play about 5 and complete about 1 typically. Steam bundles often come with extras I don't want, and if two games hit at the same time sometimes I forget I bought the second one.
Finally out!

Simply download and install then restart steam and it should show within it.
All you will need is SDK BAse 2007 to run it:
Played a bit last night. A few little tweaks that make quite a difference. Its a very professionally done mod with loads of skins, textures and voice acting (it's been so long since I played the original but I'm sure there's plenty of new bits).
Well worth picking up for free. I'm sure everyone here has the Source engine needed to play it.
It's terrific, and confirms (to me anyway) that Half-Life is still the best game ever made.
dont bother downloading the 2 part rars as its a pain to get them working. filefront site is the way forward, just waiting on the install now
I'm doing something very wrong, I must be. I've downloaded and installed HF2, Black Mesa and for reasons I know not, SDK 2007. I can run Black Mesa immediately after install (run BM now check box is ticked) but I'm damned if I can find the .exe for it. I have a HF2 shortcut and that simply starts...er, HF2. I have an SDK2007 shortcut and just starts a graphics stress test and config. So interest is fading fast.
EDIT: Found it.
Ron close and reopen Steam and it'll be in your games list
Yeah, that what the EDIT meant. :)
Just finished it... Loved it, I really prefer health kits over regenerating health, it really shows how Game mechanics have evolved over the last decade... not necessarily for the better either.

I think that happend haha. Although the game did crash for me allready once while closing down...
It's like walking down Memory lane. See a crate, smash it up. Marvellous!
Am I the only one who meticulously made sure I rounded up and kept safe all the guards and scientists (4+2 in my case) only to find they couldn't climb a bloody ladder
Loving it ... although I've got lost more than once.
I spent an hour last night battling my way out of a doorway and across the launch pad,
only to discover, on my sweep for goodies, a machine gun nest I could've used...doh!
Great fun!
where is the best place to download this from? I tried one download, took hours and found it was corrupt :(

The official torrent worked well for me. Though took a while to get above 100kb/s but it finished in about an hour and that was right when it launched. I imagine many more seeds than leechers now.

Like Sulky said, Filefront :)
FileFront also, got the game in about 20 minutes though.
For the rest, liking it but sometimes you can really get lost. Liking the game so far though!

Same here, reached max d'l speed & got it just as quick as I would from any where else.
