I was just wondering if theres any kind of protocol for non-admin bravo members warning players on boomer about things like sticking to objectives and tking.
Theres several reasons I ask this. For example, last night BK had his work cut out as the only admin on boomer at around eleven. There was a constant stream of people who didnt want to 'play ball' for whatever reason. As I'm not an admin, I feel that there's little I can do to help.
Another example, a few days ago i was the only dmw on boomer, and there was some tking and twing going on. Some of the regular non dmw player's, started asking me why I wasn't doing anything about it. And after warning the guy, I eventually told the regular's that I couldn't really do anything about it apart from ask the guy to stop it.
Unless I have missed any info on the subject, it seem's to me that a little thread outlining how non admin dmw's can help the admin's out, might be usefull
It did occur to me the other day that the admins use of the green lettering obviously distinguishes the dmw admins from the non-admin dmw's. If there was no distinction between any dmw member and any actual kick or ban just came from the console, this might encourage non admins to help out a bit when the idiot hordes get on boomer. Also they wouldn't know who is or is'nt an admin. What do you think? :eyebrow:
edit: Incase you were wondering, yes I would be up for being an admin in the future. Obviously I havent been in dmw for that long, but in the future, I would be up for it.
Try and get in contact with an admin. Usually when there's problems on the server and someone wants immediat action and I'm online then I'll take care of it.
-Post on the forums (usually BB or Whitey are pretty fast helping out).
Otherwise:
-MSN;
-Xfire;
-mIRC.
Should no admin be available, get their SteamID's and report it (Screenshots), also getting the mapname and time of play help the HeadAdmins to have a look back at the serverlogs.
People can get banned afterwards aswell if they should really mess things up.
The downside of our Public-TCS-server is: "Public".
We try to show people the TCS-style but if no admins are there to help I suggest that you and the other regulars who are playing at that moment to just go to our Passworded server.
Thank's for the advice Duvel. I will sort that out so I can contact you guy's quicker in future. Two questions though.
1). How do I locate an offending players steam ID?
2). What's the mIRC for DMW?

1) Type: status
In console: ~
Have another look in console then again and you'll see all the SteamID's.
2)What Delan typed...

bring up the console ~ and type "status" - should give you a list of everyone playing on the server.
Yep I agree Bk did a good job, like Twine I crave the power of being an admin, erm I mean yes would be happy to give it a blast but am in no rush.
The tking problem is usually short lived (I agree it is annoying) but when i first went on boomer (then introduced Twine) I ran around and attacked spawns etc, cos i didnt know better (sniff govner, touch cap, bow stare at feet) not out of vindictive spite.
Some do respond and like me become intrigued by the rules.
But ................I do laugh when the admin gives em a slap.
Happy to jump to hook if it gets too much.

Depends on what the dude/girl does.
If he keeps doing it: SLAY!
Get his attention. Same as Wednesday, he was the last guy on my side of the team and I slayed him because he shot the hostages. We lost because of that but at that moment I don't care about my stat/rank, win or lose
Was thinking about posting a thread about this myself, glad to have found one made tho =)
I really think more of the regular dMw boomer goers should be given the magic admin powers, the more experienced players/admins tend not to join the place that often round daytime for some reason :g:
Anyways, regarding the first couple posts, you guys are already helping us admins a lot by just letting us know when there are any troublemakers around. I was just minding my own business yesterday, when I got a message from some of our guys telling me there was a bunch of such people on boomer, so I joined in and it was far worse than I thought it would be, had to ban the whole lot.
So the point is, when there are people (or anything else) causing trouble on boomer, be polite and mature so that the other players don't get the wrong impression of us, and just let an admin know.
So, thanks to those who let me know 'bout those gits yesterday, great job lads :thumbsup2:

Have had the same situations as Twine, I tend to ask them politely to stop TK, TW or please stay within the boundaries etc etc (is this okay??), and it works sometimes, but when it does not and all hell breaks loose I'm also asked by some of the regular non-dMw's 'why aren't you doing anything'
When this keeps occurring, I usually ask an admin from me buddy list to please join the game as we need some control, and this gets sorted :yahoo:
But on one occasion unfortunately none of the admins were online, so I went into the forum and posted in the "game on boomer right now" (if thats what its called) thread and asked for help knowing there were admins active on there, and in no time at all KKND joined and sorted it out (always appreciated) ,from what i can remember most behaved as soon as he entered some of the console / admin messages. :D

When asking an admin for help, it's best not to threaten the wrong-doers with bans until action actually
can be taken (when they arrive), since empty threats usually encourage them to keep on going and often making it worse out of sheer spite. Also, it's always bad for a clan-member to appear defenseless in front of other players, makes people think they can do whatever they want, which is not the case on our server.
Best thing you can do is keep it mature and keep your calm, while discretely calling for backup.
Yupp, feel free to add me to buddys too, i am arround a hell of a lot more then i am actualy playing. If you cant find a Admin, denote thier steam ID number and pm a senior admin. Action can always be taken afterwards :D
Agreed, I never (only once I recall stating the fact that someone may be kicked for TW etc) mention or threaten to slay / kick / ban people as this can cause the opposite effect as you mentioned :)
All I state is to ask them to please do not go out of boundaries / TW etc etc....but should we (or I) even be saying (typing) that ?? :g:
I'm not trying to pretend to be admin or anything, I see it as jus setting an example and promoting, what dMw have taught me and lots others, on how to play by the server rules :)

If no admins are on the server then yes you should. It's coaching/helping people to understand what TCS is about.:D

Indeed, simply let them know the rules. Trying to impose authority while having none is always the wrong thing to do.
