Anyone fancy playing through the custom maps on MeatHook tomorrow evening?

I suggest we play the following custom maps we already have on Meathook

Ok i just downloaded and installed deadcity. I have a purple square texture almost everywhere and the fps is very low at around 10-20fps :(.

I get Purple squares in BackAlley2, I think it just means you don't have the texture. ( I.E it needs to be downloaded from somewhere. )

I've had the purple squares in various maps recently (including backalley) but the next time I've played them they've been ok:blink:

the scaffolding bars in cs_havana were shiney chrome the other night too...back to normal next time though

I have seen the pink squares before when I have switched to desktop to install a map and then switched back to reconnect to a server.

As above, if I came all the way out of CS:S and restarted it, the graphics were fine.

It'd be fun to play a 'Rats' map night as well, I love those maps, no sniper/scout rifles though.

What was the map where the hossies were rats? They were in a train car. That was back in the early CS days.

yep, purple squares are always a sign of a need for Steam to restart.
'twas great fun for the maps I attended.
BK - u want me to send you my files of Beirut? maybe it'll work? have you succeeded playing it on other servers?

I think purple/black chequerboard means that Steam/CSS has failed to upload the required textures to your graphics card. As you say restarting should make it re-upload the textures. Sometimes it's because you haven't got the files required (but you'd have thought there'd be a warning for that. other times it's just a memory glitch)

if the same texture is consistently missing then it's often down to a poorly compiled map or an incorrectly named texture

On purple textures, it tends to happen a lot if i alt tab back and forth and normaly affects only the reflecting surfaces (windows, title floors etc) restart always clears it for me.

If i restart the steam i still got the strange textures...:sad:

Whenever i get them, its enough to switch from texture details levels, say from high to medium and then back to high.

And if you get it allot, try to verify the ingetrity of your gamecache..
