Since I re-installed both XP Pro and CS no-one can hear my comms. My mike works fine within windows, it's just CS where it goes wrong. Albert did try to help during a game but it was difficult to hear eveything over the gun-fire.
So any help please
:(
Give us a few more details, was there any noise at all, did others see the speaker sign come up when you pressed the talk button, have you tried listening to your own voice by typing "voice_loopback 1" in your console. More, more, more....
I can see the speach icon on my screen and I belive the other players can see my name when I'm trying tio talk. I hear nothing using voice_loopback 1.
Albert mentioned a +20db option in the advanced options but I couldn't find it. That's all I have really.
have you run the voicetweak.exe app in the halflife folder? Whenever I update or reinstall halflife/cs I have to run that or no-one can hear me. Sometimes they get static, sometimes nothing.
The other question is "are you sure the mic is plugged in :D"
Make sure that the microphone works in windows. It sometimes (depending on your soundcard) turns itself off. It has happened to me a few times ... sigh.
I had a similar problem with XP and solved it as follows.
Open the master volume control, from the task bar, and under master volume select advanced. There should be an option to "Center speaker and subwoofer connected to microphone" check this and then uncheck it. Now open run voicetweak.exe to test.
Wasnt it something like XP needed a section putting in your shortcut line??
Like -noforceparms or something.... we went through this one about a year ago if a i remember
If you have an audigy card then get latest drivers and there should be an option ot enable +20db under your microphone settings on the sound module (for the audigy you need to click the red cross above the microphone slider to get to it).
SM you are the best. Voicetweak worked. I've never heard of it before but when I ran it the volume was right down. Turned it up and hey presto.
:D :D :D :D :D
:P :D it always happens to me. In fact I used to have to run voicetweak after reinstalling/updating soundcard drivers. Why must soundcards be so difficult all the time

It's what they do best.
