Title: New update
Post by: Bk on March 03, 2007, 04:31:24 PM
We'll be releasing an update soon to both text chat and voice communication in the Source Engine that will improve communication for people in multiplayer games. We've completely rebuilt the text chat system, adding the ability to browse your chat history right in the chat window and a filter to remove messages that clutter your game screen. Voice communication will be getting a huge boost in quality, so if you have a microphone sitting on the corner of your desk collecting dust, now would be a good time to plug it back in.

That's [part of] the message sent to me (and everybody else) today by steam.
You've all read it, now let me know what you guys  think about it.

I REALLLYYYY hope they sort it out, as it's the biggest failing source has.  We should then be able to resume full TCS goodness.

It's better quality but too much of a pain to sort teams into channels etc and what about the public?  You can't teach people TCS if they can't hear you :flirty:

It's something that rarely happens to me.  I used to get Network connection timeouts but that was resolved by changing ISP.

Nope, youre not. :lmfao:
Seriously though, do you have daily update-messages enabled on steam ? That's should send you messages everytime you log on to steam manually (when it's not done automatically) and whenever you shut down a steam-based game (unless there are currently no new annoucements).
