According to warcraftrealms (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charsheet/28724468), Vairë got unguilded around when we cleaned up for inactives.. Thats all I can find..

That, and he is in the guild roster. (Recently added?)

According to WarcraftRealms (http://www.warcraftrealms.com/charhistory/28724468) he left about a week and a half ago, didn't join any other guilds when he left it seems. When I did a search for Väire (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/search.php?searchid=83515) on the forum, I found that he still is listed in the [post=177717]Guild Roster[/post] thread, so obviously we didn't even notice that he left. I also found [post=116869]his application[/post] in the archive, and also a post he made in the [post=157629]Characters on Aszune[/post] thread (he is registered on the forum with the account NielsChr), and you can see that he is the other one of Nefertem's brothers.

I guess it couldn't hurt to invite this one back in again. You can ask Nefertem if he knows why he left in the first place.

About DonnieKingo, I don't see much problem with him returning, especially since we have the offer to take back former members until 15th of March. He was a nice bloke, as far as I can remember.

However, could it be that perhaps we should shorten the period for how long we will accept members back in? As stated in [post=177645]this thread[/post] in the public section, we said we were gonna hold that opportunity open till the 15th of March. Now that for instance Redemption seems to be falling apart already, do we really want to have people coming back, not because they miss SOG, but just because they screwed things up in their new guild?

I don't think it would be a problem to remove that thread from the public section now. If any former "good" members want to return, that won't be much of a problem as soon as we decide to open up for "friend's" invites again anyhow...

I have no problems with DK - provided he doesn't take my slot in any raids :P only j/k - but he WILL have my slot - his hunter is much further progressed than mine.

Had a quick chat with Gorion in officers channel today, and Vairä contacted me later in the evening, so he is now back in the guild.

I'm glad to see both DK and Sheepy back in the guild, and I will also much like to see Sandrion back here. They were all good members of SOG :D

But I would just like to briefly repeat what I said in a post above:
Quote from: Bob;179440However, could it be that perhaps we should shorten the period for how long we will accept members back in? I know we have set the date on the 15th of March, and it's not that many days left, but I wouldn't like too much if we suddenly get a big rush of folks returning now, just because Redemption is breaking up. Now I'm very glad we got back these three, and I guess there might also be perhaps one or two more in Redemption I wouldn't mind having back (don't know though, have no idea who's still left in there), but I guess there are also some that I definitely don't want to see in the guild again.

Now it wouldn't be harder than we just are picky about who to re-invite, but than what reason should we give to those we deny? I mean, since we set the date like that, it would seem pretty mean to show just some off, even though we might not like 'em...

Any thoughts?

I'd say treat it as a one on one basis. We have a fair idea who the idiots are and we know who most of the nice people are. I'd say only take back the 'nice' ones and be done with peeps we don't really know until, if we do, start a new general recruitment drive.

Only problem is that we'll get a moan from someone in guild about someone outside not being allowed back in but really I don't see that as a huge problem.

Whatever we decide I think we should be transparent.  Sandrion and Sheepy were good, helpful players, and if they reapplied independently after we'd end up recruiting them anyway.

I say admit them both, AND go for a one by one basis.  Just be transparent.

true.. he left a looong time ago.. to join another raiding guild, think he was thinking of us as slow progress. and took a shortcut.. but why would he want to come back. we haven't even started raiding. if it's for social reason i don't see a problem.. might see how he reackt if we tell him we ain't raiding yet.

As we as of yet haven't opened up for "regular" invites again, I would say no.

Id say no too, and say that he could have an eye on our forums for when we open for Applications.

I'm with that idea. No, if only to make it clear that he can't expect special treatment having left previously.

EDIT: On another point, it's interesting to note the increasing numbers of people wanting to rejoin.

Yes, and I've seen some ex redemption raiding Karazhan under the tag of Genesis, something the Genesis people said wouldn't happen quickly.

Just a reminder, none of the advisors here are Genesis officers and we have zero say on recruitment policy.  The views we reflected at the time were those of the officers of Genesis as passed on to us by them.  It would appear that their views, like the membership list, are subject to change without notice.

Sorry TL if 'the Genesis people' seemed like I was referring to or the others.  I did of course mean the officers running Genesis.

'like the membership list' is a telling remark I feel.  Says a lot about the nature of the guild.

Based on this, and comments I have heard from others, I would maybe suggest that SOG's officers rethink the extent to which we might want to work with them.  Some help (the tours for example, would be highly beneficial) is welcome, but we shouldn't become dependent upon it.

I would agree that you need to be careful not to become an adjunct to Genesis, but I do not think you are.  Where offers of one-way help ar emade, take them, you've got nothing to lose.  My feelings about joint chat channels on the other hand are not the same as they are not one-way and you expose yourself to some risk there.

TL.

PS: The membership list I was referring to was the Genesis one, not the SOG one.  We have also had several departures - Marduk, Vargen, Spi and others.  For a small guild the Genesis turnover is currently a higher percentage than SOG's.

Hmm, just a thing i have been thinking about, should we get a seperate place we post member related stuff, such as new/old members wanting to rejoin? I feel posting in one thread or in the general bit is a bit... messy...?

:withstupid:
Have thought the same thing myself, but I think that thought got stuck in one of my internal buffers or something :P

But a sub-forum for member-related issues, and perhaps also one for raid stuff, in addition to the general forum, wouldn't be too bad.

We used to use a 'Member Issues' section for such things. Check the Archive.
