Hi all i have since the last update had problems with my voicecomms in source. I have reinstalled my drivers and checked all my settings in the volume menu and they seem to be fine. The input and output settings of my soundcard are all set to their highest settings too. Ok so now to describe my problem in game when i try and use my voicecom it broadcasts then cuts out then broadcasts then cuts out and this happens constantly. I figured this out from typing voice_loopback 1 into console. It tests fine in teamspeak and in the valve voice test included in game but i can't work it out. My rates as far as i know are default as i have no idea how to change them :P. Thanks for your help (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/v_images/smilies/smile.gif).
What soundcard are you using. I had this years ago with a Creative soundcard and certain drivers. I had to go back to OLDER drivers to get it to work.
PS the comms in Steam are worse now than they used to be.

Thanks for the reply BB i have a realtek high def onboard sound card. I have tried both the 1.54 and 1.61 drivers but to no avail. It was working fine before the update though.
have you tried the server again as we have enabled the new codec this weekend.

I have tried both our servers and others but i still have the same problem :(.
Might not work but it's worth a try, close steam and delete the clientregistry.blob file in Program Files\Valve\Steam, then it will download the steam update again when you reopen it.
try voice_Norman_collier 0
Thanks for the input both suggestions tested. Not sure if the norman command exists :P.
I have an X-fi and I have the same prob. Not all the time though. It happens when the system is under pressure, say lots of action and movement and players in the FOV. Could of course just be my bad PC specs...
:g: Are you sure it's not your mic that's buggerd? :lmfao:
Ok tried a different mic and its the same. I tried CZ and it was fine. Seems the source codec doesn't like my onboard soundcard so i'd better get my audigy 2 out of the attic :P.
