note to self for the next lan .....
NEVER sit down wind of Albert after he's been out for a curry, his tender disposition does not agree with rich food !
 sorry, I am not normally that bad, but I don't normally make my way through a couple of dozen Bombadiers and half a bottle of Jim Beam in a weekend. Next time I'll have to lose the half stone before the lan, save me carrying it around tthe week after. :) :D  8)
To be fair MAD_ness, you deserved all you got for deagling me all weekend, sorry JAS and Smite though
Great time had, soz squiz u were just in the firing line :-)
Bats up to FB and TL for their great effort, and Oldbloke fo helpin get the ball rolling.
Good job to all, the only problem was it went too fast!
Can we have one in the summer, as that is when my exams are finished so I would be able to come? Oh and if some one who lives in my area can give me a lift up if it does happen??? :D
All being well, the next LAN will happen in about 6 months. It just depends how quick FatBob and I recover from this one
TL. 8)
twig i think the general idea is that we have one ever 6 months, the next one being in about oktoba time ish.
oktoberfest......forget the CS....lets get drunk and get naked.
October? What is wrong with you people??? Why wait? How about a summer mini LAN? Jus like a 1 day majobby?

Quoteoktoberfest......forget the CS....lets get drunk and get naked.

You need at least two days for a decent LAN.
One day just aint gonna cut it ;)

Well, if I can get to a LAN from Sweden. I am sure as h*ll that you could drag your sorry ass across the country to the event. ;)

QuoteWell, if I can get to a LAN from Sweden. I am sure as h*ll that you could drag your sorry ass across the country to the event.

If it was in the summer I could, but I have too many commitments at other times!
And besides, carrying a large PC box and monitor on the train would not be fun!

QuoteAnd besides, carrying a large PC box and monitor on the train would not be fun!

Guildford, as in Surrey
Well to be exact, Bisley, where they did the shooting for the Commonwealth games, but as it wasn't televised, even though the majority of Britain's medals came from it, that probably doesn't help.
some of it was telavised, and i know a few of the english shooting team, they live just down the road from me.
Quotesome of it was telavised, and i know a few of the english shooting team, they live just down the road from me.
They must be rotten shots then sheepy or do you take a different route everyday to confuse em :)
I spent a lot of time shooting at Bisley during various comps with the army. You wouldnt of thought it after watching me play CS tho eh? :?
But not any more. Because guns are banned now in the UK.
Which explains the massive drop in gun related crime over the last few years.......errrr :?: :?: :?:
Errr, guns are NOT banned in the UK, just held under licence.
TL. 8)
Errrrrmm I was IN the army they aint banned guns there yet. Well I friggin hope not!
I shoot shotgun at Bisley, tis a shame my shotgun skills in RL dont mirror mine in CS! Anyway, my point still stands, no-one lives anywhere near me?
QuoteErrrrrmm I was IN the army they aint banned guns there yet. Well I friggin hope not!
Well they do have the SA80 which pretty much means the same ;-)
This was my rifle.... http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_sr.htm (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_sr.htm)
think the ban is on hand guns and automatics
but not in the army (not until health and safety get involved)

Liv in the bleedin Stockbroker Belt an ain't got a car??..........your'e havin a bleedin larf int ya!!
Won't Papa let you have use of the Roller with the Chauffer for a few days??
Quotethink the ban is on hand guns and automatics

LOL.........can you imagine the Risk Assessment, Work Instructions and Method statement for that one?!!
Britain formally declines Moldova's invitation to a War as the HSE has closed down the British Army for failing to provide sufficient safety measures to protect the lives of it's employees!!
If you must know my Dad has a volvo estate, and I am at present saving up for me 1st car, a Mini Cooper! Not quite the Roller eh???
Oh and the only chauffer in my family is me mother, and she is planning on retiring soon! :2gunfire:
Don't rise to his baiting, he's only trying to wind you up and by the looks of it. he's succeeded
QuoteDon't rise to his baiting, he's only trying to wind you up and by the looks of it. he's succeeded
.............Oohhhh, that's so harsh D......
So, for those of you out there that like these kind of things;
Today's puzzle is
Go from ATwig to APlank in not more than 10 moves replacing one letter at a time!!
There you go Twiggy........life ain't so serious after all!!
............but then again you are young and idealistic and I feel it is my duty as the servant of Satan to remind you that your parents could be worth a fortune to you in the right set of circumstances!!
QuoteThis was my rifle....http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_sr.htm
I was in the RAF. I used this:

these (the TV version was the best video game ever!):

Oh you sooo made that up doorman, if you were in the RAF you more likely used one of these (http://www.theaerodrome.com/aircraft/gbritain/sopwith/camel.html)
Hey BB.
What was all that dangerous looking kit attached to?
LOL at JB. Yeah sorry Dingo, tis just that social stereotypes are one of the few things that really piss me off. Well, when I was in the Cadets we used:
http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/galle...s/1600/1668.htm (http://www.securityarms.com/20010315/galleryfiles/1600/1668.htm)
Possibly the worst rifle ever created. the SA80 was bad enough, but a single shot version??? What were they thinking? Piece of piss to clean though, could do it in 5 mins with me eyes closed.
But after 2 years I qualified to use this:
http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_lsw.htm (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_lsw.htm)
Unfortunately, I left before I qualified to use this:
http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_mg.htm (http://www.army.mod.uk/equipment/pw/pw_mg.htm)
And now I shoot this:
http://www.beretta.com/Media/Guns&Ammo/S68...retta_S686.html (http://www.beretta.com/Media/Guns&Ammo/S686/beretta_S686.html)
With an extended 30" barrel, and an uprated breech mechanism. :D
A better picutre of it is availiable here:

I'm with Ron on this one. There is no way either of us would climb into anything that modern!
Actually the last man to ever fly a Sopwith Camel in combat (WW1) died in Feb this year. He was a Canadian called Henry Botterell and lived to 106 yrs.
So there you go.
So now you know that Ron and I are at least that old :-)
In fact I flew a low level attack craft very much like the one here http://www.bestchairs.com/Public/BESnews.n...me?OpenFrameSet (http://www.bestchairs.com/Public/BESnews.nsf/BestChairsHome?OpenFrameSet)
Armchair Pilot eh???
Incidently BB, when I was in, an aircraft unable to fly because of unavailable parts was known as an AOG priority (aircraft on ground) a Lightning was an LOG (higher priority) so, was a Buccaneer a BOG?
You taking the cr@p or what? :P
wot the hell has this got to do with the lan III please answers on a post card..........................
Did you not see the flypast at the LAN???? This is what sparked all the old farts reminiscing! :D
My preferred choice was: http://www.wohnungs-suche.com/RAA/info/Equ...uip/TRapier.htm (http://www.wohnungs-suche.com/RAA/info/Equip/TRapier.htm)
This is just silly.. I'm not reading this thread any more.. Don't make me come back here again.. I mean it.. Really.. Honest.. Trust me..

Just remember one thing sonny, you are outnumbered 10 to 1 by old farts round here so a lillte more respect.
