I forget the term for this kind of advert - but it's something similar to Intertextuality advertising or allegorical advertising
it's saying that by not using the product (in this case Durex) and using a competitive one, you will be become a father - i.e. alluding to the fact that competitive products are defective.
It works on the premise of knocking your competitors to make yourself look good...... Political advertising follows this pattern.
