I think some leniencey is a good idea wrt swearing - a gentle prod seems to work, especially as a number of us dMw-ers including some rather more senior admins have been known to involuntarily utilise bad words to emphasize some point or another as an unfortunate habit that we are trying to break. Sometimes no-one notices:whistle:

Or foreigners like myself with a more lax attitude towards some words, which you guys take somewhat more seriously. I can easily think of a couple... :blush:

Late last night I banned 5 members of the same clan for very obscene language.

I was a bit "tired & emotional" and couldn't remember which ones were swearing(at least 3 IIRC) so I gave the lot a 30 min ban.

I don't mind the odd mild expletive on comms, but typing obscenities into chat without **'s is a ban.

Ehm, i think i might be a bit harsh there... Espessially towards ppl that dont play by the rules and uses foul language. I just bumb them of the server for 30 minutes almost regardless :blush2:

But im also in the possition with Del, I dont know which expressions and phrases are good or bad, 'spessially when i ban someone for saying "**** blabla" and one hr later a senior comes allong and goes like "blabla **** bla" (same stars), and im like.... :poster_oops:

Well, a 30 min ban is only 30 min. So you shouldn't worry too much. I think that if they do not even bother to read the rules they had it coming ...

don't go :poster_oops: ... slap the senior! ;) Or at least used admin-only speak to remind them if they haven't already realised and apologised. Try to keep any admin-admonishment in the admin-only speak? :)

Yup manny people do it, so please add it there.

MOTD updated with Sadako's coding. Currently running images off sadakos server until we get them uploaded to our own website.

Edit: I've setup the files on my BY webserver as it should create less delay on the message (not a lot but some). Will get OB/TL to sort out files to dMw webspace.

Good idea adding into into the rules i think. Over the past few months ive seen countless people come on the server and swear then be told Watch your language and persist to do it, then say well your rules suck...The general reply from most people is well go find another server and there answer is no..its like blimey you obviously have a problem with the rules as you said before so why still play in the server. lol I can never understand some people sometimes :D  lol

Well, you can add it to the config.cfg for example. Then you just type the message in console.

If there are Admins on, then there is no need.

And you yourself not being an admin, might give the wrong impression to people.

Well, first of all you were telling people that they were joining or on the wrong team. This is NOT in the rules.

Second, you are not an admin and not a dMw member but you are "just pointin out rules to people". When there are at least 5 admins on the server and 2 of them senior admins. Don't you think we are able to handle it? It is not the first time I have told you not to do this.
On MeatHook we swap sides to make sure you play attack one map and defence one map. On Boomer this is not enforced as people tend to join whatever team they like. Admins then balance the teams irrespectively of what team you were on the previous map.

Third, If an admin tells you to stop doing something you should comply. If you don't like it do not play on the server.
 
Finally, harry beaver. If you are going to adress me please at least try spelling my name right. Doc, Dr, Doctor, Sad, or Sadako will do. The smilies you attached around my name combined with that sentence gives me the impression that you are trying to mock me. If that is so then at least have the guts to tell it to my face and send a PM.

Then, in console, type the appropriate message:

eg.  forum (to get the forum message), motd, skill etc.

However I may be wrong in which case I'm sure someone will tell me :)

Well, it is just a simple alias scripts we are talking about (similar to a buy script and binds). The userdaten.txt file is for window to select from. However, this works as well as long as you type in the alias commands in the console.

Try right click on the file then select properties. Then tick the box "read only"
