I was thinking today, our Welcome screen on Boomer is a bit tedious to read. I can honestly understand why people choose to skip straight to the game without glancing at it. As compared to other servers, we have no logos, no pictures/backgrounds on it.
Could we make the explanations for what teams need to do on DE and CT maps a bit more bold? . At the same time, could we perhaps stick in a picture of what the "No-Entry" sign looks likes next to the "no entry" warning text?.
Along with this, perhaps have a logo at the top saying:
- Dead Men Walking -
T.C.S Gaming Community
with say perhaps the picture we have at the top of the forums?
Then a working link to our forums at the bottom? I'm not definite that this make ensure people to read our rules every-time, but perhaps making it look quite professional could have a positive affect?

To much fancy stuff might divert attention from the important stuff in there, and since we dont have a problem w/ filling the server. Aint broke, dont fix it comes to mind :whistle:
If possible I would really like the no-entry sign there! AND - message saying that if you can't see these in-game, go to console and type 'retry'.
It might end up being a heavy MOTD, but when someone is kicked for bad behaviour and I refer to the MOTD then people really read it :)
This should be easy enough to do. AFAIK it is html compatible.

Cheers guys. I took the liberty to move around the different points of the rules. My wife did the layout and had some good ideas on how to convey the message.

Err ... it is not yet implemented on the server. This was a suggestion made by me and I posted it here for all to make comments.

I remember another server (before I joined dMw, of course) had sound attached to the welcome page, an mp3 file
"Read the rules" might be handy. But it looks great as it is, just a thought.

I found it really eye catching and stopped to read it.
It's so intrinsically different to the standard one that I think ppl will notice it.
