Post by: OldBloke on April 27, 2007, 10:34:54 AM
For the weekend :D

Going up to York to stay with Frenzy for a couple of days so enjoy the peace and don't fight each other too hard for my podium place

Don't you worry - I've got the bottom step covered for you, although it looks kind of dusty and unused :narnar:

I usually get the top podium place when I play LFS.....................cos nobody else is on the server with me   But thanks to Ron for joining me yesterday and once he had stopped laughing at my driving we did ok ;)

You need the break. I've noticed you having trouble finding a line. You can see very clearly from behind!

If you've not been, go to York minster while you're there. Don't worry, you don't have to join.

A safe journey, just watch the first corner!

I understand Ron is pushing for the adoption of a new podium, with an altered number of steps:

You had my heart skip a beat or two there Oldie. Its not good for me....

Anyway, I will also have to cut down on driving in the future (read summer). It's growing in the garden, my caravan needs use, house needs paint, car needs wax..... You know... And here its sunny until 2300 in the evening so I'm not let in before dark (never happens now).... :help2:

I'll join as often as I can

Verner :racing:

Verner, you're most welcome however short your visit may be, the best to you as you "enjoy" the summer.

just an observation from a pedestrian..

In Norway it's ridiculously dark for a long time in the winter isn't it?

ergo: 6 months on, 6 months off:D

The farther north you are the worse it is. Here (middle of Norway) its not completely dark in winter and we don't have midnight sun in the summer.

I still have sun on my veranda until 2300 in June. In southern Norway its almost like in the UK.

Bleh, I could've provided pints in York if I'd known. In the end I spent Saturday decorating my mum's house in Wakefield, and Sunday in a boozer in Malton with my girlfriend's dad. Not the most exciting weekend ever...

Oh and if you do go into York Minster, remember to take your hat off. Otherwise you get half a dozen irate-looking smock-wearing god-fearing weirdos charging over to bollock you.

My good fellow, does not common decency dictate that one removes one's headgear when entering a building anyway?
It's another of these dratted American customs where you Araldite a baseball cap or dishcloth to your head at an unfortunate angle in order to look, er, "street".
Damned unenglish.:ranting2:

Sir,

I am a Yorkshireman. Genteel to a degree which requires me to bathe on my birthday, and perhaps for weddings and funerals. It was February and if you'll excuse the colloquialism I was freezing my knackers off. The wind howls around the Minster, which I'd entered in order to climb the spiral staircase to the roof where I had no reason to expect better weather. Hence the warm and wooly hat.

Besides, according to local legend (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_Ilkla_Moor_Baht%27at), a man may lose his life when venturing out lacking appropriate headgear.

297 steps up a bloody stone spiral staircase. I was desparately seeking an oxygen bottle when I emerged into the daylight. Frenzy was starting to count his inheritance :)

In conclusion - a big stone building full o' bloody tourists and smocked believers. Give me a decent castle any day.

The indian restaurant at the gate was brill though. Naan bread the size of a kite.

So a big ol' stone castle would be full of tourists and, what, smocked unbelievers or unsmocked believers?:g:
