Title: I have a problem..
Post by: Penfold on May 02, 2007, 11:15:37 PM
I have a problem, well actually I have several, however one of them you may be able to help with.

When I try to 'look' at Boomer through HLSW I get an error message:

I log on - check the password and get the status 'ok'. Then if I click the get log button I just get that error box.

Works fine for Meathook though.

Anyone got any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks

Have you forwarded the port for the server to your PC from your router?  HLSW needs consecutive ports open for the servers?

I had the same problem with my new wireless router before I set up port forwarding for port 7130 (UDP).

Actually - mine fubared up again so I'm in the same boat as you again.

I tried putting pc in DMZ - no joy
turned off firewall - no joy
set up portforwarding - no joy.

I'm out of options at this end. I'll keep looking on the net.

OK, try this.....

Open hlsw go straight to console (no pressing log) and see if you can put in
logaddress_add :7130

Then hit get log.

Works for me ..... kind of.

OK I have been told to

Why do i get the error "Server won't respond to "log" rcon command" everytime time i try to connect to my gameserver via rcon?

 Add
+ip  to the server start command line

now, fine in principle - but anyone know where the server start command line is?

Thanks

Update

tried it from the office- straight in.

Swiped the router from the office and used at home - still have the same problem.

Also have the problem on each machine .

Therefore I think it has to be the isp?

Did you use the same PC at the office as at home? It may be that there is something on your PC setup that is causing the problem; it may not be your ISP

No, my laptop is fine at the office but not home.
My home pc was fine at LAN but not now
The other 3 pc's at home all have exaclty the same symptom.
My office pc's are fine

Only thing left then is it must be your ISP doing some funny port mangling! Who is your ISP?

Thanks BB - been through those pages but no luck.

However, bizarrely enough, it seems to work tonight when I try it. Nothing changed  - no rhyme nor reason.

I tried to hibernate my machine and it keeps the settings active - although this may be a coincidence.

I don't suppose there's anything wrong in using hibernation mode for a PC is there?

Cheers

Not really. I like to reboot as it clears out memory and you'll need to reboot for some MS patches as well.

Last week there have been 2 MS-patches, the last one being last night.
Maybe you've installed that patch Pen?
