Ok, I logged on today and then I got a w from Valdeko.
He is currently guildless and he wanted to join SoG again.
Not that I do mind, I dunno how he is really, but my impression wasnt the highest. He told me he wanted an invite, and asked if he had to apply, or if he could just get an invite now, since he was an old member.
I said he might need sponsors and that I should post it on the forums and then get back to him. Then he said I knew he could get alot of sponsors. (Not the most humble person)
Anyway, he asked me if we needed a dps warrior or a tank, and I said we needed tank. He wasnt too happy with that answer either, and said he hated to tank and wondered if we couldnt need a dps warrior instead. I said we needed a tank, again.
I asked him which other guild he has been with and why he'd left. He said Redemtion, Falle ones (harhar har TL :P) and Been there done that.
He said they wanted a hardcore tank and he had comp trouble so he couldnt oblige to their needs. Fair enough.
Bottom line is, I dont mind reinviting him, cos we do need a tank. And he does seem like a nice bloke, for all that I know.
We know him, he is polite, just that he was abit too selfconfident when he talked to me today.
He got my vote for an invite.
(Didnt he also try to recruit you Gorion? :lmfao: )
he was one of the 1st to break off and form redemption, and yeah he did try to nick me.
he wont get my vote
He's a decent guy imo and was acting a little foolishly, but then he'd never been anywhere major out of SOG. He was also not one of the 'first to break away' as he was recruited to join Redemption, he was not an officer there. Yes he tried to recruit you G, but that in itself proves he was just acting foolishly and not with mal intent.
Since he left he has maintained a dialogue with me, whispering to say hello almost every day. The guy is not 'the devil', he was not a ring leader, he was just a casualty of what was a very difficult period.
If my vote counts, I would say yes, he is a decent person, has tried something different and now is coming back 'home'.
SOG have taken many other people back after FAR worse.

I have nothing against Valdeko - but as I've also said in a couple of other posts, can we please just hold all these invite-discussions a couple of days so we can have the application system up running?
As nobody has commented anything negative towards the [post=188450]last suggestion[/post], all we need now is to get the form fixed, which TL said would be looked at this weekend.

Why is it a problem that I am just taking up invites of an old SoG member?
Afaik, this is the only way we have to get to discuss peoples inv UNTIL we get the applications up and running, so why keep it on hold?
I felt it was nescesary(typo I know) that we discussed Valdeko asap, since he might getting an offer from other guilds before us.
You're both right in a way.
Bob is right in that you HAVE to have a system and ALL have to stick to it. Otherwise chaos will reign RealSoonNow(TM). And let's be fair, the thread abou tthe app system did not exactly get much response form people in any sort of timely fashion.
Ellie is right in that we have to be flexible and be able to make decisions on an individual basis, a system should work for you, not against you. The trouble is that nobody has followed up on Bob's effort to get a system sorted.
If you carry on as you are then it is going to get real messy real quick as everyone will end up doing their own thing.
TL.
I agree TL :) and Sorry Bob, for not paying too much attention.. I have too many exAMS and I keep forgetting wow from time to time.
I think your applicationsystem looks nice and you have my support :D
Sorry for being so blunt :D
I say let Valdeko in, but once the form is ready. Another warrior who is regularly online would be welcome.
he's a ok bloke.. he's been sending me /w with good evning and stuff, and i know if he'll join us he might try to bring his friends also after a while.
but my vote is yes. and as far Bob has worked with that form. we might just tell Valdeko that the apply form hopfully will be out soonish.
ok!! we need to get the invite system up and running.. Valdeko is a bit over eager to join us.. he /w me a lot the other day.. aiaiai.. He realy wanna join us again.
I know. I took him talking to someone else in Shattrath the other day about joining us.Like in "say". He complained about us needing a prot warrior and not a dps and such. We need to get it sortet out ASAP, and maybe it should be our no. 1 priority right now. Then we can tell Valdeko to apply on the forum... He is really waiting guys.
Yeah I told him to wait as well. In the mean time why not just give him a made up template (as BOb proposed) and ask him to complete it and submit it. That way you get to resolve it without waiting for a web form. (Gandalf did not get a chance to change it yet, so it would be wise to move forward anyway.
TL.
Well, we're only waiting for the application form to be fixed - everything else is ready - and hopefully that won't take too long.
He seems a bit too eager to join that I would feel comfortable making an exception to get him quick inside - and also that not-too-humble attitude about the prot/dps warrior thingy makes me hesitate a bit. But I don't really know :g:

That's a possible solution.

We could perhaps just PM this form to him, and post his reply in the application section?

sure bob.. seems as a good idea. and I must say I agree on your consern.
my guess: he will leave if he don't get a raiding spott.. but that's just my opinion.. altough he's a good bloke

True, but then he has been unguilded long enough to want to be back in a guild badly. As for the DPS side of things, all warriors feel the need to do DPS, very few go down the tanking route, but as long as he understands that currently DPS warriors suck donkey balls then that's fine. I have had a conversation with him to that effect several times already - I have told him that even well specced dps warriors rarely get into the top 10 of the DPS tables on raids. Usually the top 10 is full of mages, rogues, enhancement shammies (until the patch) & locks. So he knows his spec sucks, but liek most warriors he wants his spec to work as he has more fun with it. All that means is he might not get to raid as often as he wants with a DPSucky spec as my might a Prot spec.
TL.
true, but understand that a prot spec warr cant do shite if hese not in a group/raid. solo questing + solo gridning + solo stuff = near impossible + take too much time in prot.
thats one of the reasons real prot is rare these days.
if you think ime joking about this, try to play a prot warrior
re the invitation, since its a 90% positive, why not just give him an invite..?
Aye, I think we were agreeing, but it means that warriors are damn hard to find a place for even in a party if they not prot as so much of the mobs in instances (5 - 25 person) needs the mitigation of a prot spec tank or a feral druid (and even they struggle at times with certain types of mob/boss).
Anyway, invite the guy!
TL.
Quote from: Gorion;189590re the invitation, since its a 90% positive, why not just give him an invite..?
As have been said in numerous posts earlier, when we first have made a system with certain rules, we should stick to it - 100%. And this has also been announced to the rest of the members now, so it will not be an exception we make only within the officer group.
So the first person that feels like it tomorrow should just send him a PM with the application form, doesn't need to take long to sort out.
But if all the rest of you think he can just be invited right away, just do that - whatever...
I think send the form was what we were saying, "just do it".
TL.
Has nobody PMed the form to him yet?
I did it now, just in case...
Edit: Oh, and could somebody that sees him online remind him to drop by the forum to check his private messages as well :)
App. form received from Valdeko, posting it in the members' section now.
