Title: Raid invite system / policy
Post by: Lucian on May 26, 2007, 06:19:56 PM
Duk asked today for clarification on what our invite policy to KZ raids is.

I need a clear answer to give him.

On a side note, I think this was prompted by moaning from Deloris / Plight about how if they signed up they wouldn't get into the raid because the slots were already filled.  They rarely, if ever check the forums, and it's no surprise they missed the sign ups.

there is no invite policy atm, we only did 2 test run nights in there.. the invites were hand picked just as announced

QuotePeople will be chosen for this first run based on their gear and how early you got the key

and on the forums there is info about how the invites for the next run will be handled - teni will be approving the participants

QuoteThe Sign up site should be ready for the next run(Sunday

regarding deloris/plight its in their best interest and duty to read the forums out, so if they were left out from a Kz raid, reason being their lack of interest in the forums.. well thats their problem.. and they brought it up on themselves

note that they didnt even care to read the forums, nor did they care to make an account on the sign up site, nor did they care to post their names down that theyre interested in going to Kz

so unless they decide to read the forums daily, ime afraid they wont be joining any raids anytime soon

this might be harsh, but as far as ime concerned they aint doing their part, so they can moan how much they want about it because there is no injustice in it

Edit: heres another thing, these are all the posts for deloris (12 in total) http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/search.php?searchid=115866 and shes been a member since 8th sep 06

and plight: 5 posts, and joined 24sept 06 , and these are all his posts http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/search.php?searchid=115867

what i see here is a total lack of interest, so i dont see a problem why theyre bieng left out from the Kz raids..

We know it's working now - so could I suggest we formulate a plan that will allow members the chance to attend? First come fist served, gear, rotational, whatever?

I whole-heartedly approve of the 'no forum activity, tough luck' stance.  The forum is what makes SOG a cut above the rest.  Active people are better members and form a stronger bond with SOG.

As for joining policy, I think the first element of it has already been made:

You have to be active on the forums if you want to attend the raids.

I'm whole heartedly with that.  Raids should be announced on the forum - wouldn't it be nice if a password was required for signups, to amek them visit the forums?

Then when Teni creates the raid he announces the password in the forums, and people can signup.

On a side note: I think this is another bad point against Del and Plight - they effectively used Duk to wheedle their way into the raid!

Not harsh at all - and totally fair as well. What is not fair, is that certain members just don't seem to give a crap about such things as the forum - general lack of commitment ****es me off :ranting2:

Firstly, we can upgrade the GMotD to a bit harsher "If you don't read the forums, you don't get to raid!".
As already has been mentioned, it has been written that these first runs are meant only as test runs, and the RL is allowed to pick out the attendants at his own discretion. And I don't believe that we said it should only last for the first week, so even though we use the sign-up site now, the RL is still allowed to choose whom he wants to join. (But we shouldn't let it go to long this way)

As for a raid invite system: a rotation system has been mentioned earlier. If we keep a time period for a month, we could easily keep a post where we record when people would have to pass on a spot, something like this:
QuoteDruids
Threbrilith: 03.05 - 22.05

Warriors
Gorion: 16.05

Paladins
Tenilia: 09.05
Spiritus:

Hunters
Lucian:
Theoline:
Firstly, whenever somebody has to pass on a raid spot, we note the date in the list (this should perhaps require that they stay online in queue for the raid for at least approx. 2 hours).
If in for instance a raid today, there were one open spot for a tank/off-tank, that would go to me, as I have passed one more time than Gorion (and Gorion would get todays date added to the list). Than, when we come to 03.06, we remove the 03.05 date on my list, so the next time me and Gorion look for the same spot, Gorion would get it, as he than would have two passes in the last month, while I only have one. Etc etc etc...

It should be emphasize though, that the RL or Officers can override the normal rotation if they see it fit for the raid. In the long run however, our aim should be to balance this out.

Don't know if it's a good thing if such a list if visible for all the members, or if we should keep it in the private raiding section?

They have to read the forum to be able to raid, and ill let marduk know thats why they wherent in the raid. If they cant be arsed to read, dont be arsed to invite them at all. Its called a sign up site for a reason.

Btw Gorion, Plight is Deloris sister, so its She, and not He :narnar:

Btw, Marduk says he asked if there was any idea on a second karazhan group as there seams to be a growing intrest in doing so. He said he talked to plight about it, and that it wasnt about getting them in raid, but just a bit worried that soon there would be so many they would only be allowed to raid once every 3 raids (as members that missed a raid get priority on the next one). He fully well understands that if Del/Plight dont read the forums for a month they dont know, and thus dont get invited.

Note to officers, please make sure that you get the point of the conversation across, it kinda got butcherd in this case afaik.

I think all the questions were answered in the first post about the test run.
For the first run i picked based on gear and how long people had had the key. For the following runs i would rotate people in but i would not make full rotations of a team. A complete system would be created later.

I do not think it is important to read the forums regularly but reading the announcments when the guild message says to read them is important.

And it is very hard creating a second group when there isn't even 20people that got the key. It is a little long since i last checked but only 17 had the key then and only 2 new people that got the key i know of is Ekzete and Nefertem.
It was said that if enough interest was shown a second group would be created but that would require tanks and healers getting attuned. At the moment we only have 3tanks, 4pallies and a shadow Priest attuned that can raid and that isn't really enough for 1group though it has been working so far.

edit: 22attuned at the moment including TL. of those 6 have never signed up(Deloris, Plight, Ekzete(just got the key), Adularena, Sandrion and Nobekpl(has joined 1run as a last minute substitute)).

3tanks
6healers
11DPS
2that can't raid

We have have 2-3 to many DPS for 1group and that makes it a little harder but else we are just barely scraping for a single raid group

I was just trying to illustrate a normal rotation, so that in a period of a month, everybody will have to pass on an equal amount of raids.
Not well written though, I see that - so if somebody feels like translating from Bobish to English, please do so :flirty:

My fault for the butchery - I didn't want to get into the RG2 argument, which I felt was irrelevant, and Duk's real request to get the invites policy sorted.
