Title: Magtheridon's Lair
Post by: saori on May 28, 2007, 12:02:52 PM
Just a quick question (and maybe stupid one :) ), do we have people to try a Magtheridons (http://www.wowwiki.com/Magtheridon%27s_Lair) run?

We don't stand chance against him atm. I don't know if anyone on our server even downed him yet. Genesis was close to killing him, last time I spoke TL.

Gruul is worth trying though if we can get 25 man together.

It's getting the 25 men together.  (Imo anyway)  - we haven't had more than 15 sign up for KZ at any one time so...

Well, but that can posibbly be because of the attunements quests. For Gruul's lair there is no need of any attunement, so if we can manage to get 25 level 70 in a well balanced group we can give it a try. And is one of the two parts of the attunement quest for Serpentshrine Cavern.

i didnt know about Magtheridon been so damned hard, i just considered it as a onyxia style raid, pitty is so gear dependant :crying:

You're right Nef, Sora got him down as well.

About getting 25 people together for Gruul's lair; there are a few people in the guild that can't commit to evening raids, maybe we should try and get a group together on Saturday or Sunday afternoon? There may be a larger chance that people are able to come during those times (at least that's what I hope  ).

I'd say, pick a date and time, add the event to the sign up site and see how many people we can get together.

Magtheridon is aiming a bit too high right now probably.

Karazhan > Gruul's Lair > Magtheridon & SSC

As you progress through the Karazhan your raid DPS picks up and your armor levels, +healing and stats levels all improve noticeably.  When you are regularly getting to Shade of Aran and Prince then by all means go take a look at Gruul's Lair to do a gear check.  You're not far off, but I'd suggest a period of gearing people up in Karazhan first or you'll be raped in Gruul's Lair.  In terms of levels of DPS, dps casters need to be aiming for 1,000+ damage, healers for 1,500+ healing etc.  These numbers are all possible from craftables and Karazhan.  Once you get nicely into Karazhan you will then be looking to be able to summon Nightbane and the preparation for that is when you cast your eyes towards Gruul's Lair.

In Gruul's Lair, Maulgar is much easier on gear, but Gruul himself needs a much higher level of dps, healing and armor to survive the fight.

By the time you are approaching putting Gruul on farm then you'll also have been doing the Trials quests and getting attuned to The Eye which means you will be looking to Magtheridon.  At the same time you'll then be looking at the early bosses in SSC.

Each boss in its place, steady progression FTW.

TL.

It took us around four months to get started in Karazhan, so I would at least give it a bit more than a couple of weeks there before we start thinking about something else.
And as we've only had three runs in there this far, you can't say that you are getting tired of the place already, eh :flirty:

All in due time - let us first get properly warmed up in Kara before we start thinking about other places. And I would also guess, as has been before, that with Summer approaching, it will be hard to organize regular runs with bigger groups.
