Title: Gruul's Lair
Post by: TeaLeaf on June 01, 2007, 07:42:13 AM
I know this is a wee bit in advance, but a little bit of advance preparation never killed anyone.

Ask a couple of mages to start gathering a stamina kit so that when you go in to Gruul's Lair you have one (and a backup) with sufficient stamina to mage-tank Krosh Firehand.  Ideally aiming for 12k hp or more when fully buffed (and this could of course include a flask). It is pretty easy to get there with greens, but the trick is to get there and still have the Int and +hit gear to allow the spell-steal tanking to be relatively trouble free!

Well I have been thinking of this lately.

But there is alot that has to be done before we can start raiding Gruul's Lair.
We need to recruit almost 20persons, not sure on the numbers but i think it is close to right.

1-2Paladins
1-2Warriors
1Druid
1-2Warlocks
2-3Mages
2-3Hunters
2-3Rogues
2Shamans
1-3Priests depending on if Crystaline and Rumeran will start raiding

The second part is that with the size of Karazhan it will be very hard to have progression raids after Prince is down with only 2raid days. Currently we can clear Curator on 1day, with maybe some increase in speed we could take Aran the same day. We barely have the time to progress on the last bosses in Karazhan so we will need a 3rd raiding day if we want to progress in 25man raids as well.

I don't think we will have any trouble taking maulgar and Gruul down with the current core of raiders + recruits but we really need alot more people if we want to raid 25man and more raiding time if we want to start doing multiple instances.

Well, recruitment is the job of the other officers, but as regards speed I think you'll start to find very rapid improvement in speed as you pickup loot.  Sure you'll have some bad nights, but you'll mostly have good nights where you get through all of the bosses very smoothly.  As numbers increase then you run a second 10 man raid to increase the speed with which you gear up your members to provide for a full 25 person raid.

Perosnally I would try to aim for something like this:

Sunday: Attument>Moroes>Maiden>Opera>Curator>Chess>Prince
Tuesday> Shade + optional Netherspite/Illhoof (Genesis never even tried Illhoof & Netherspite until a month ago).

When you have Nightbane summoners ready then you'll probably change the order a bit and do:

Sunday: Attument>Moroes>Maiden>Opera>Nightbane>Curator>Chess>Prince
Tuesday> Shade>Netherspite>Illhoof

Given that the last 2 are optional then you have time for progress.  Yes you can add a 3rd raid night too, but I'd aim to clear more quickly the bosses you currently work on and aim for 2 groups clearing through Karazhan - assuming of course that you want to aim for Gruul's Lair.

well i am not really concerned with 2raid days while doing Karazhan. It was more that we can't do a second instance with only 2raid days. And seeing as Gruul is very short it gets even harder with moving over to Magtheridon. A 3rd Day will be crucial i think if we move over to 25man raids.

Also the recruitment is the job of the officers but i have to say if we need to recruit for our raiding.

A third day might be the only answer Teni, I am not pushing for either, just trying to raise some questions that everyone needs to think about well in advance to avoid the guild stalling at some point.

Personally speaking, I won't be committing to a three day raid schedule, nor to any schedule requires compulsory attendance.  Whatever schedule we go for (3 or 2 day) I think it should be optional.
Title: Invitation to SOG
Post by: TeaLeaf on July 16, 2007, 08:03:41 AM
On the record:
I suggested to other Genesis officers that we extend an invitation to SOG for a 'guest' spot to be made available to a SOG member to attend one of our Gruul's Lair raids and the idea was accepted.

The theory was that it might give valuable raid experience of the fights to Raid Leaders, officers or those SOG felt might best benefit from experience of the fight.  If you decide to start raiding Gruul's Lair then the experience would be invaluable.

The guest spot can certainly happen at least once, but it has the potential if we all agree for it to happen more often whilst Genesis continues to raid Gruul's Lair.  Note that we will not raid it for that much longer as we can get the T5 equivalent tokens, so the only loot we tend to need from Gruul's Lair at the moment is specialist drops (anguished cries from Dajo & Umbra about the lack of drop-love shown to DPS warriors springs to mind for example).  If no Genesis member needs the loot then we are happy for the SOG member to get it.

I hope you accept the invitation.  Just let me know if the offer is something you wish  take up and we can liaise about times/dates and who is going to fill the first invitation slot.

Finally, I hope it is understood that this is not an attempt to use the meeting of the two guilds as an opportunity to recruit SOG members.

Off the record:
It has the possibility to become more regular whilst we continue Gruul's Lair.  At the moment GL is a bit of a time sink with little reward, so I suggest grabbing the opportunity quickly even if you have no intention of raiding GL as a guild.  The additional gear might realy help buff one of your raiders and this will help you in Karazhan for sure.

Right now Genesis have a fairly big queue of people who want to sit out the GL raid as they do not want loot from it.  As Genesis approach a cessation of raiding at GL then there is the possibility of the one guest slot becoming two, then three or maybe more.  This just might present a way for you to gradually increase the numbers of SOG members you have had exposed to 25 person raiding and even eventually turn into a SOG raid where Genesis had a couple of guest slots (for our DPS warriors who are still waiting for their drops!).

I have not mentioned this latter possibility to the other Genesis officers, it is purely speculation on my part as to one option as ot what might happen in the future.  However it is a possiblity and one which you could have some input into if so desired.

I hope this post is of some interest to SOG.

really good idea, thanks :)

i would suggest teni for the first runs if possible, since hese the official raid leader.

would really be nice if all the officers get to see GL, and possibly even sheepy, since hese gathering hp gear for it

Good idea, and a great initiative TL - thanks :)

I would gladly come for a run myself, but as mentioned earlier, Teni should get the first chance as he is the raid leader. Following him, I would say Gorion, Sheepy and the other officers.
