Title: Need help with respecc!!
Post by: saori on June 06, 2007, 03:39:58 PM
Hi fellow lockys,

As yesterday I proved that my full destruction configuration result in a major lack of nice DPS im going to respecc for a more raiding oriented specc, and I would like to read some of your comments about what is best and so. I post here the start configuration im thinking:

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?5000220000000000000001350030133250100501351055000000000000000000

Please, take a look at it, modify with what you feel its best for maximizing DPS (remember, i want to focuse in getting the max DPS i can), and post here the resulting link so i can take a look and make a decision.

Many thanks for the help, mates. :D

If it's DPS you want, demonology is not a very good choice. There aren't many damage enchancing talents in there.

Both destro and afflication require a different play style and gear for them to 'work' though.
What kind of spells were you using when you tried your destruction spec? That tree is mainly focusses on fire spells. So you should use incinerate, immolate, conflagrate and the odd shadow bolt, instead of DoT-ing stuff up. The last time I saw a destro lock in action he was pumping out an insane amount of damage, while still being able to control his aggro.

I'd get something like this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=NZcxczIbzZxx0tr0tVuV.
Or you could go for an afflication spec: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=IEMrbRfzVtZMxc0cZxx.
(Although I personally find DoTs a bit boring since they can't crit :narnar: ).

Im with Sandrion about the affliction.. A lot of the locks in the top guilds have affliction, but I simply find it too boring..

But the way you divide your talents in Demo and Destro depends on yourself.. For all I know the more Destro you go, the harder it will be to keep nuking and keeping you away from aggro at the same time..

Im trying a more demo kinda spec out atm, and so far its going quite well, but its prolly not my final spec..

Fire locks pwn in dps, honestly!

Well, now im a completly fire lock, with a complete destruction build: 0/6/55 http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000000330000000000000000000555020510230513531351

But i cant manage to get my dps high! Maybe its just a problem of gear? i lack epic gearing, at the moment only have 3 epics, and my overal dps is of 572 unbuffed (with fel armor will be 672) since i dont even placed any encahnts on my gears.

About the demonology build i proposed Demon Aegis will increase fel armor efectiveness in 30%, Demonic tactics will increase spell dmg and critical strike in 5%, Demonic Knowledge will increase spell dmg in a 15% total of the demon stamina plus intellect, Master demonology with imp out will decrease my overall threat in 20%.

I like to be a destruction locky, but what i seek is the maximum dps with agroo control. If my problem is only a lack of dps gear i will then do my best to gear up fast as hell.

What do you think? any suggestions?

And what about this slight modification to my current build? with some more points in demonology and suppresing the nether protection and searing pain from the destruction tree:

572 isn't a lot of spell-dmg, but with some more runs to the regular/heroic instances you should be able to get up rather fast.. Maybe do a bit of pvp once in a while aswell, but thats just optiona :)

Im thinking of going deeper afflicion myself, thinking about this (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0502222512230105512010000000000000000000000505000512200000000000) build. Might be abit better. I have seen a couple of specs from the high end locks in other guilds, and unstable affliction deals a shitload of damage.

Any comments?

Well, i think i dont quite like the affliction tree, its quite boring to just dot and wait, i prefer a more active build.

I like destruction, and i think i will slighty modify my build to get some points in demonology and improve fel armor, health +3% and mana +3% while supressing netherprotection and searing pain.

Many thx all for your comments/post, where very helpful!:)

Adliction is the way to go mate. Ur self sustaining in HP and dot's tick off alot. And if u got frozen shadow weave set u heal alot from all shadow dmg :)

As a destruction lock ul need +100hit and +25% crit to be able to do any serious dmg.

Check out my build on armory for a good build. But drop the 4 points in Destruction i got on crit and put em in the DM tree for more HP.

HP u can never get enough off. Im respecing back to my old build tomorrow, wich is the same except for 4 more points in DM and 4 less in destruction.

Affliction takes alittle to get used to, but i feel that for Destruction as well.

If you're lookin' for respect don't let your friends know you play WOW.. you'll lose it all immediately.. :)

Me thinks Ninja has been up to long and is clearly over-tired.  We'll make allowances if you go get some sleep!

top end warlocks can expect well over 1000 spell dmg, at that time dots tick like crazy....

no ****.

UA, Cor and CoA ticks off for 7.5k dmg alone :) Ive had CoR and UA do 1000 dmg pr tick alone. And i my SB dmg is about 2.8k normal and 3.8k crit. And i have a good crit too about 17% or so.

Problem with Destruction is that in the big instances on the long fights u go ooom with mana. And u req alot of healing from a healer. As affliction lock u never go out of mana or HP. If ur low on mana u LT of do darck pact from pet and u use your dots and SL or drain life to get your HP back up. Drain Life ticks of about 1000 dmg pr tick :) So for 25 man raid affliction is the way to go. On some encounters ud want a destruction lock or a MD lock.

Nice!! Well, maybe some day I will go Affliction if there is a raid need. At the moment I will keep my destruction build and try to gear up as much as possible.:)  Many thanks for your feedback Jantore!

Affliction all the way - its such an easy build to play and you're pretty self sufficient with healing and mana which takes a load off the healers.

Raid buffed and potted i currently run at 1400+ damage ( 1250 self buffed only ) and the damage caused is very nice indeed.

I'm not strictly full affliction at 39/1/21 but i find this build gives the option of good long term dot damage with the added bonus of good instant damage when needed.

If you go to http://armory.wow-europe.com/, every character is available there, so just search for them (Nizzel in this case), and you'll get to see gear, build, reputation etc. :)

Yeah, i know, my own signature is from armory! :)  just didnt have the time to check it when i made the post.

BTW, my little respecc and the +40spell dmg Tea made in my staff with some nice 3 shards socketed in my boots, make the job and my personal goal was accomplished: First DPS in 5th and Death try of the curator! :D

When i manage to get my new epic robes and Tea makes some nice spellstrike pants for me, and destruction girlde I will pawn!
