Title: Auto rates adjustment plugin
Post by: Dr Sadako on June 14, 2007, 10:08:55 PM
Seen a plugin (of some sort) forcing rates on ppl that have them set too low. I have been checking the rates setting from time to time on Boomer and Meathook and there are quite often people with some really odd values.

Is this something to consider on our servers?

Maybe putting up again what their rates should be?
Not sure if mine are correct even.

Mine sit on LAN setting all year round, maxxed out.  Which is probably why I get shot alot

I got no problem with addons for ratres, but it is yet another thing to maintain.  Do we need one or is it something we should add a note about on our MOTD and then monitor further?

TL.

looking. But I thought of these as well

(http://images.cstrike-planet.com/front/mini-ct.gif) Bandwidth Rates(http://images.cstrike-planet.com/sk/larrow.gif) sv_minrate <0-25000>Min bandwidth rate allowed on server. Default: 0 (unlimited)(http://images.cstrike-planet.com/sk/larrow.gif) sv_maxrate <0-25000>Max bandwidth rate allowed on server. Default: 0 (unlimited)

But that maybe doesn't the thing. I think it was BoD that had something like the plugin I described. Will keep looking.

You should see a doc about talking to yourselfs :roflmao:

Some very good finds there, would be intresting to see some of them live.

Edit: The var checker also seams to have a user screening function (as in rude names can be banned by wildcard)

The problem with these plugins is that they need AMX Mod X (SourceMod which has just entered Beta status) installed which requires Metamod....

I would think we'd also have to get rid of mani as we wouldn't want to use two admin mods and from what I've read Mani is a lot better (even with it's bugs).

I will have a look around and see if I find something for Mani instead.

Edit: It seems that Mani is being replaced by Sourcemod which is a Beta status now. http://www.sourcemod.net/

If we install metamod:Source it looks like we can run Mani as a plugin under metamod.  This would also allow us to install additional Metamod plugins like the rates one.  When I get some time I'll have a go with my home server.

It's been since the last steam update.
See this thread (http://forums.mattie.info/cs/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9921&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=6cfe9a9a1e45df940375d9f34ae1b1f1). Valve are trying to cut down on dodgy servers/admins and have restricted what can be done.  This has broken loads of plugins, including the ones that do rates adjustments.

Type _rr1 in the console to do a restart for now or use the mani menu (option 7-7)
