Sunday-evening I played a bit and a few of the younger admins kept typing adminmessages to eachother (u and then @ so that only admins could see it).
I found it quit annoying as I thought something was going on, I allways check the messages directly. I did say something about it but they continued. Was I right here to tell them something about it? I told them that if they wanted to send messages to eachother to use Friends instead of the adminmessages.
BK then asked over VC why I was bugging him on how to admin and that they wern't spamming or such with the messages.
Before the adminmessages I pointed him out that he as a dMw-admin doesn't have to ask someone to swap but should sometimes swap himself aswell to even teams. When I joined the server a team was losing 5-0, with 2 more players and 2 dMw-admins on the winning team and I pointed out that in this case, he as a better player should change sides (and especially as an admin).
So am I right here to say something about the adminmessages and when they should swap sides themselves?
I know I haven't played a bit lately but if I see a team loosing I'll see if I can make the teams more fair by swapping myself.
And another thing, what does it mean wheen people type "oob" or something in chat?
oob is "out of bounds"
yes you are correct to pull them up over admining - too many of them dont bother to check teams/scores and BK is one of the worst at not thinking about changing.
Thanks for the fast reply.
Now "oob" makes sence...
What about using the adminonlychat btw?
I think this would just be for the more important adminmessages and not for normal conversations.
I know I'm a bit to strict sometimes but I only do this on our publicserver (everyone who knows MH knows how to play).
So many people have the adminonly chat ability on Boomer that it can be over used at times but I've never found it that bad and is mainly used to inform the senior admins of issues they should be aware of (like someone going oob). I don't really see the odd comment like "Nice knife in the back Sadako you hacker!" as being a problem but if it gets too much when your on, just send your own adminonly message telling them.
If they're using to chat instead of admin then yes you're right. They'll always be some admin banter there, but yes it can get too much from time to time and a reminder never hurts.
TL.
I don't mind a little conversation but this went on a bit.
For the rest, when I play I like to admin pretty strict as I haven't played alot lately.
Usually when a few more MainAdmins are on it's not a problem there were a few things I was wondering about.
That's also why I asked a fellow MainAdmin if it's okay to be a bit strict sometimes.
