We are delighted to announce confirmation of the dMw's 12th LAN party:
LAN XII is on 9th - 11th November 2007 IMPORTANT CHANGE TO USUAL ARRANGEMENTS: The LAN will officially open at 10.00am on Friday morning The LAN will officially end at 11.00am on Sunday morning as we will need to be out of the room to allow them to convert it back to its normal Sunday lunch use. We hope these changes do not cause any problems, but suspect they should be fine as most people had left LAN XI by 11.00am on Sunday morning anyway! Please note that we have a maximum of 38-ish places and these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
Members of dMw's Charlie Company is hereby given advance notice of the event. (Please note that international gamers have a dispensation to pre-book so they can book their flights early). Bravo Company & SoG members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further week (or until TL moves this to Bravo channel)
Alpha Company members will not be able to see this thread or book places at the LAN for a further 3 days (or until TL moves it to open channel)
To confirm your attendance please reply to this thread and then book your own room direct with the hotel. Please note that the hotel has an 18 years+ booking policy so the minimum age for attending the LAN is 18. LAN XII Details: Dates: Friday 9th, Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th November 2007

Times: The LAN venue opens at 11.00am Friday morning and the LAN will finish by 11.00am on Sunday
Costs: For the venue - £15 total per head for the whole weekend
Costs: Bed & Breakfast Accommodation: double occupancy £33 per person per night, sole occupancy £50 per room per night
Room Availability: 35 x Double; 8 x Twin
If you book a Twin Room and want to share the costs of the room then when you post in this thread to confirm your attendance then also make a note of the fact you have a Twin room booked and are looking for someone to share with.
As before, the reduced accommodation and function room rates have been negotiated on the basis that the majority of the attendees will partake of the excellent cuisine offered by either the hotel restaurant's Fixed price, A La Carte or Bar menus
on the Friday night. JOIN US for the
WELCOME DINNER on Friday evening in Ballroom 2 at 7.30pm.
And YES, we WILL be asking them to organise a Steak Night! Eating at the hotel is NOT mandatory, but I am sure that any attendee from the last couple of LANs will vouch for the quality of both the food and the company! The Oliver Cromwell offers:

Note for International Travellers: As we usually have some people attending from overseas I thought the following might help:
The LAN accommodation costs are above, it's cheaper if you agree to share a twin bed (two single beds) room with someone of course.
The LAN venue we charge at £15 per person for the whole weekend.
Other costs: Food and drink - this depends on you. Personally I eat my meals (Fri lunch through to Sunday lunch) in the hotel's fine restaurant, I have a bottle of wine with each meal and my food and drink bill usually comes to about £160 for the weekend. Others buy sandwiches, get burgers etc, stick to beer not wine etc and and their bill runs to maybe £50-60 for the weekend depending on what and how much they eat & drink.
Travel: Any London airport works well, Stanstead & Luton are closest. Heathrow is ok, Gatwick is further but still doable. If you book your flight tickets we'll make sure someone picks you up and takes you back - post on the forums for a lift and you are usually sorted out very quickly as other attending members appreciate the international effort made! Other airports are also a possibility - if in doubt post and we'll see if anyone would be travelling past your airport!
Computer - if you have a shuttle or laptop then you're probably sorted (unless hand luggage rules cause you problems) but if you cannot bring your own PC then post in the LAN section to see if someone is willing to lend you a spare PC for the weekend. Many people have done this in the past and it seems to work well!

Other way round - £50 for double and £33 for twin.
A double is a double bed.. this tends to mean that it's single occupancy (i.e one person paying £50).
A twin is two single beds in a room (i.e. two people sharing - each person will pay £33).

We were supposed to drive with Mats, neither me nor Nef own a car. We could rent one but it would blow our budgets :sad:
Edit: The best I can come up with is £575 for the car rental with the 2500 KM to drive (deducted the 300 free km), and then there is the fuel... Sucks to be a student...

Well, if I really call in some favors I can get my hands on a '96 Corsa. Problem is it might not make it. It has been towed to a workshop three times the last six months for problems such as failing fuel pump, leaking radiator, complete electronics failure, stuck handbrake, abs failure etc...
At present it drives fine with the "take this car to the workshop asap - electronics gone bad!"-sign on at random, and with no working fan in the engine compartment I have to keep the heating system inside the car pumping out heat when being in a queue... call me a pussy but tbh I don't dare do the trip in it :sad:
