What you can do that :blink:
Looks good.
Just had a little trundle round it and it appears to be a cross between CS:S and BF2. :g: Jury's out atm.
hard to tell between a friend and a foe;
no radar/map;
can't exactly understand what's going on;
hate the function of the different keys (I know I can change them, but stil).
Would love if someone took me to a server and showed me around.
What? Badlric is gonna run it? :naughty:
a 100MB patch released (http://www.insurgencymod.net/)

totally agree with that. the amount of TK's :lmfao:
and i dont have a clue whats going on :rolleyes:
Finally started to get a grip of what's going on. I think every1 should get a "tutor" to walk them through a map, lol.
The "hard to tell friend from foe" is, I guess, an outcome of the MOD being a "Reality MOD".
Basically, you have to concur objectives by occupying them, together with a friend or two, and then protect it or move to the other objective, until you concur them all.
The thing is, that cooperation and planning is of the essence, as you can have different tactics for defending, pushing forward, etc. And since it is possible to get to each objective from several routes - it's interesting.
In every map I have tried (well, in the three I understand at least), you have always possible sniping positions, several covers etc.
It is actually nice to see a cover that realy supplies you with cover, not as in the CSS :-) where an AK penetrates almost anything.
So you have real decisions to make (if you are into that): should we have a sniper on the roof or should all players use Shotguns/AKs in order to push forward ASAP? Should we devote a player to an RPG in order to block the opposite? Is this the right time to call for support?
Anyhow, it is important that the commander (if any1 chooses to be) will know the map, as he designate the next positions for his team and this is very helpful 'cause you see it on the compass.
For example, had dMw played as a 6 players team for instance, vs. 6 other dMws or others, Sadako (assuming only a Dr. is eligible to command :-) ) could decide that:
2 will occupy Alpha immediately; 3 will rush to Bravo to occupy it; and 1 RPG will fire on Charlie to give the opposite a hard time. Voice comms works nicely.
Players can change their weapon and role during the game (although the mechanism is not completely clear to me yet), and naturally can run around freely with out any commander.
I must say im absolutely loving this mod, just take the time to learn the maps and objectives and infintely rewarding.

:withstupid::D It's a great mod, very fun to play but also very hard.
i have a question. i installed the game today, but when i want to enter a server, no matter which server or which map, a message appears: your map is different from the server map.
and i cant enter a server.
does anyone has an advice for me?

Delete..:roflmao:
Have you applied the patch? Found here (http://www.gameupdates.org/details.php?id=1233) if you use a torrent client to download.
tried it out for a few days, find it rather awsome, the way the game enforces tactical strategies, movement, and playstyle is impressive...
I've played this a bit. I really like it!
I need to dig up my TrackIR since the game supports it :flirty:
I think this would be a seriously good game for Tactical game play if we could get enough dead men on playing seriously.
I for one would be willing to get my butt on the server.
Now that this is downloadable via Steam (Games>Mods>Insurgency) I thought I would give this a spin so am downloading it today.
I'm installing it now.
Never tried this when it was released, will set it downloading while I'm at work today. :)
Anyone care to give it a whirl tonight?

If you really think you must. Do a search for insurgency in the er...search bit. Personally I wish I hadn't bothered.

After a brief go on it today, I'd have to agree. Didn't like the gameplay much, seems to be that the person who camps most wins, since it's near impossible to spot someone who isn't moving. Could be fun for a private game, but pub servers I could pass on.

It's under FREE STUFF/Game Mods.

I agree that still players are hard to spot. However, that is mostly because they don't make any sound sitting still. In this mod, when you walk or sneak, your boots still make noise, and that levels with what terrain you are walking on. With regards to people camping, I was playing on a map where the opposition did that, and they can't cover all entry points with one FOV, so they either turn or walk. This game does require a strong turnout of players to be really fun...

If anyone can make it fun, the Dead Men can :)

Wish I could do the same, Its been downloading all night @ 22kbps
Downloaded (poor Browne) took about 45 mins @ 500Kbs on my uber cable connection.
First time out on public I looked past the obvious problems with playing random public style and could see the possibilities for us here.
Contrary to one or two I think it IS worth it. I think you just have to play a bit longer and preferrably on a dMw admin'd server and we will start to enjoy this game very much.
Once you know who your enemies are :doh: and the maps, then it's pretty cool.
Anyone fancy setting up a server quickly to test the idea? I might do myself later so if I do I'll post here the IP etc.

There's a server at cs.deadmen.co.uk:27035 you could try it out on.

Connected.
My map version differs from the servers and I can't get on.
I can't see where the map should be in my folders. Apart from the obvious >>Insurgency>>Maps but it isn't there!
Anyone want to try this game for a few hours one day?

Im going to try and update the server installation. Server will be offline for 15 mins
Edit, it's bringing down lots of updates so looks as if that was the issue. Will be back up soon :)
Edit 2 Server back up
