Tripplehead2go turned up yesterday, hooked it up and it just works, its that easy. The monitors took some jigging around before I was happy with it.
The problem I found was the bezel edge of the monitor actually spreads the screen wider,,,, If you imaging a 50" wide screen tv, cut it in 3 and then add a 2 rulers in between the 3 sections it makes the 50" screen 54" wide,, if that makes sense? So you have the full 50" to look at but its broken up by the screen edges.
What this does in LFS is create a problem when looking further around corners like you would in real life, so imagine you would glance at the far right monitor to effectively see further around the corner, as you drag your glance back across to your center monitor there is a indifference between display and it makes you look you bearings a slight fraction but enough to put you off when flat out.
I'd imagine this would be the same on CS as you pan around on the mouse but as your firing point is in the middle of the screen its not such an issue as with driving.
I got around it by sliding the left and right screens behind the center one, this brings the picture together and gets rid of the screen imbalance and its now fine.
I thought this would cause more problems but it really works well. I guess like in a real car you have door posts and wipers which obstruct your vision but do not slow you down, as long as the world behind looks and moves as it should then it all seems real and correct.
Is it work the money???, Hmmmm yeah it is for me but I did have 3 identical lcd monitors handy so all I needed was the tripplehead unit.
If I were buying monitors as well then I'd maybe look at a dell 24" ultra sharp 1080p screen for about £500 although it doesn't do 3840x1040, the Tripplehead does and that’s twice the width of a 1080p panel :yahoo:
The vid is from my mobile phone so its not great, it runs on the quicktime player.
You can see how early you can see cars along side you.
