Title: Baldric
Post by: Dr Sadako on July 23, 2007, 05:41:29 PM
Baldric is unused for the moment so I have the following suggestion:

Make baldric a public server running
Also I think we should enable sv_downloadurl. We can use my host to try it out if you like.

QuoteHow to Sv_downloadurl

You first need to configure the server with the correct config settings to enable the sv_downloadurl feature. In the /cfg folder on your server you need to add or edit the following to the server.cfg:

sv_downloadurl "http://www.webaddress.com/files/cstrike/"
sv_allowupload 1
sv_allowdownload 1

Once you have done that you should restart your server. The web adress should be the address of your hosting and must contain the end forward slash on the web address.

You then need to upload all of the files from your server such as maps that you want to make available for sv_downloadurl to the hosting and thats all.

I've had a chat with Sadako about this and I think it would be worth a trial.
We could keep the rotation small (4 maps) and Sadako has kindly offered to host the maps for us. This will make it easier for members to get hold of any new custom maps we're thinking about adding to Meathook and could also encourage new people to visit us  (those who would rather play custom maps).

Can we have the password removed from Baldric, the sv_download stuff set and the following maps placed into the mapcycle:
cs_rio_source_v2_2
css_cs_china_v2
css_cs_parkhouse
css_cs_redwood
Lets see how it works out over the next few weeks.  I want to get back into matches after the holidays but we can see how things stand nearer the time.

My only concern is splitting up our members between the two public servers and Meathook but with a lot of people using Steam Friends I don't think it will be a problem.

All done but needs testing. Please note that the maps are actually called:

cs_rio_source_v2
cs_china_v2
cs_parkhouse
cs_redwood

and not as listed above

Ok, that is strange. According to HLSW it is BetaN on baldric and betaR on MH and boomer. Map adverts work on china on MH but not baldric.

Still no signs. However, I do get this message when I am on the server

MANI-ADMIN-PLUGIN: Warning, your server plugin english.cfg file is out of date which will cause instability!
Please download http://www.mani-admin-plugin.com/mani_admin_plugin/language_pack/english.cfg

There are no signs at all, not on "older" maps either.

On another note the mani map list is out of date as well.

The jpgs (t and CT no entry signd) are in right place as are vmt files etc, the config is set properly with map_adverts set to 1 and mani has been set to same version on both servers so what have I missed? :(

Nope, downloads didn't fix it. We are trying uploading the files to sadakos webspace to see if the sv_download URL is screwing things up

Found this BB

QuoteYou have custom Stuff running on the Gameserver (Maps, Sounds, Skins)
Without Fast DL / sv_downloadurl anything will be send to Clients from the Gameserver (friggin slowly, but 100%)

Optional and recommended is Fast DL through sv_downloadurl (you know already)
But, You cannot leave out Skins or other Materials that are "nessecary" to play with on Your customized Server.

Leaving out the Skin Materials (and other custom Stuff) is a very Bad Idea, New Players on Your Server will then see the annoying fat Red Errors running around.

What Intention sticks behind that behavior not uploading the Skins??
If Your Webspace is big enough for Maps, indeed, then its good to stick the Skins on....

Technically theres no "Fallback" to the Gameserver, if anything goes "wrong" on the sv_downloadurl like missing files etc.

QuoteYou MUST have the files on the download server for the clients to download.  Once you enable the download server, the clients will not download ANY content from the server.

On the basis of that then putting the files on your webspace in the correct folder structure should have worked. We tried it; wonder why it didnt work for us? Worth trying again?

I think that is more a way of compressing the files on the download server to reduce the bandwidth you use. If we can get the basics working it is worth trying but just an added complexity at present

Well, I am not 100% sure that it is in the right place.

cstrike\materials\decals\custom\mani_admin_plugin

or

Tried it with the bz2 compression and the fast download works (not the signs). Uploading compressed files instead. :)

cstrike\materials\decals\custom\mani_admin_plugin

or

cstrike\mani_admin_plugin
All of the files in the zip go into  cstrike\materials\decals\custom\ which will create the mani_admin_plugin folder when you do the extract. I don't know if the two jpg files are needed but if they are they need to go in \cstrike\

Then everything is in place. On baldric now but still no signs.

Maybe I need to DL the entire Cstrike folder off baldric?
