Yep I have to agree with  Chimpboy.

People who choose to use  an avatar of a character from a film  that bears absolutely no relation to their player name, should indeed sort their life out and try to be a bit more bleedin original......(be it The Matrix or any other popular Sci-Fi movie)

Eh Squeeky (pots and kettles and blackness me thinks) :!:

Fully agree with you there Stryker, which is why I put in the "Reloaded" bit - you are hereby absolved, my son

Smiley - Anyone who cant see the resemblance between Hudson and a monkey is off their head.

At least it's a bit left-field.

I see you are represented by an extinct creature - much like your playing style

QuoteSmiley - Anyone who cant see the resemblance between Hudson and a monkey is off their head.

Which was exactly my point. There is no relation between the name Chimpboy and a pic of Hudson,so why did you pick it? In much the same way that others chose Matrix avatars that bear no relation to their names you have choses to use a picture of Bill Paxton laughing, which also bears no relation to Chimpboy or any other simian/human hybrid.
So by criticising them you by defalt criticise yourself and are indeed off your head.

It might have been nice if everyone selected a pic that related to their name, but it's a free world. So in the same way that you feel free to ignore your apelike name and simply pick an image of a character from 'Aliens', then surely others can ignore their names and pick an image of a character from one of the Matrix films.

The phrase I think we're looking for is Hypocracy....

Christ it's hot.......I really wish I had a bleedin garden to sit in  :(

You miss my point (as always   ) -  I don't believe an avatar has to directly relate to your name.  Anything you're interested in is fine, even if it's the Matrix.

I'm simply pointing out the glut of Matrix Reloaded avatars after the film.  It's becoming some kind of trend.

I didn't make any initial reference in the poll did I to having name-avatar relationships did I?  No, I did not.  It's you and your freakin high horse attempting to have a cheap shot (Please note TL - he started it   )

Now be nice or we'll be told off again

Moi?

Err, it should be fairly obvious that I am not going to have an avatar consisting of a freshly picked leaf from the tea plantations of the far east, and I shudder to think what sort of avatar you would have DonkeyCheeseGrater use......so let's just call this thread 'run out of steam' .....or something similar.

I do agree and I go further and suggest you find an avatar that links to your nick and not just pick some abitary movie star that you happen to like, which is no more or less than our three Matrix fans have done.

However here are some excellent examples of avatars on this forum that are unrelated to the users name, the greatest of these being, in my humble opinion Doggers effort. A wonderful and subtle symbiosis of Hugo Weavings two famous film roles using the LOTR image but adding the quintessential Matrix sunglasses. Combined with the killer signature line that further binds the two great films, this surely is the exemplar user personalisation. Classic

Yeh.

Don't forget the "Network Elf" rating though.  I am subtle in ways even I can't imagine...
