Apart from that, it does my heart good to see new folks, the more the merrier.

Well lately we got alot of new folks around work (bout 25).
Couple years back (untill last year) it was custom to go around the oldies (not 65+ but the people that worked longer then they had) and introduce themselfs. Out of the 25, noone, really noone did it.
So i guess it must be some kind of flue that also spread around the internet and forums :P

Very true. But racers are shy, retiring types that (I thought) needed to dip their toe in first, by way of encouragement, (That grammar is absolute shite but I can't be bothered to sort it out) I started thread.

Hi there!
This is my first post, I swear! See?

:D
Ok, sooooo... I bought LFS S2 in march this year, after playing the demo for a few months and saving money for a wheel, a new computer, and S2. I'm not a real petrolhead, I'm not into cars, only into racing, and this is my first racing sim as well. :)
I found the dMr server recently, it was Aquilifer who told me about it, and that that it's a server where they run a different combo each week. As I don't like monotony I find it a great way to race, I like it very much. Before this the only servers I used to visit were the CTRA ones, because of the track rotation, and the relatively fair racing.
Though even there there are times when racing isn't that fair, so I was seeking a more controlled environment, a team server, and I guess I've found it for now. :)
You were seeing me on the server pretty much in the last two weeks, unfortunately that will change now as my holiday is over, I'm back to work which limits my possibilities, because I work in 3 shifts, so there are many days in the month when I'm working while you're racing on the server in the evening. :( Anyway I'll try to race as much there as I can.

Iron wrote such a novel in his post that I feel I should have posted more too. So let's try again...
Hi, my name is Aquilifer
I'm from Finland. I'm 187cm, 70kg and my shoe size is 44.
Why such a name is a bit long story to tell, so maybe I skip it this time.
The reasons I have liked dMr are pretty much the same as Iron told. The new combo per week system makes me drive combos which I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Mostly because I still drive with a mouse  I have been playing Live for Speed from September 2005 and bought S2 in April 2006. So I have fair amount of experience on several servers and so far the best people I have met are in dMr. They have been very friendly to all people from the beginning. In general they seem to be the most sane people I've been driving with.
I have driven those popular servers like CTRA, CD and Redline. IMHO the first one had the worst drivers I have met since the demo servers. Many others if their drivers seem sane, the admins seem to be bit too ban happy people. I like in dMr that all level drivers are welcome from newbies to experienced and admins do not ban anyone who is not immediately used to the car. I remember when I struggled to learn driving fast in demo and without help it would have lasted lot longer.
I prefer good fair racing always over a win or even a podium place.
You should see me more often than Iron in the near future.

Oh come on, I'm usually a very quiet man. :D I'm glad that I made you post more though. :D
QuoteI prefer good fair racing always over a win or even a podium place.
Yes, absolutely, me too. Last night I did a mistake so the driver in the second place overtook me. I caught up with him, and had a good fair battle. Until i did the same mistake again  : taking too much curb on T1, doing a wheelie, then smashing into the wall while recovering from the wheelie.

I've been a few times on your server, and now I'm registered here on the forums. As an online racer I'm still pretty new, I could say that I've had my first real online races on your server.
What I like a lot about your server is that you have a clear format on how races are organized, that you run with one combo for a week, and finish with an 1h race. On many randomly picked servers people crash a lot and restart a race, also combos change all too often, not leaving me time to learn it. I did never like that, so that's why I've spent most of my lfs-time offline.
Then I opened my own server and announced it on lfs-forums. I had those three cars that are in demo on westhill, and had a few nice races, though it was never very populated. I had races that lasted for about 16 minutes, and I had disabled restarts as much as it was possible from the config files. So pretty much the same style than you have. Aquilifer came there a few times, and mentioned your server, so here I am.
About my history with computer racing.. I've had a wheel since the release of CMR2, or perhaps for a bit longer. The first wheel was a Guillemot/Thrustmaster Ferrari Force Feedback. It was quite a good, but I changed it to Logitech Momo racing when it was released, though I did not consider it as any great upgrade. When the G25 was released, I bought it immediately, since I had for long wanted good pedals. I had even build me new pedals myself, but I never managed to finish them with electronics. G25 is a huge upgrade over the black Momo, both the wheel and pedals are from another planet. I've not used the gear stick at all, i use only those buttons on it.
About other simulations I've had on my PC. A rather long list that i've tried: Viper Racing, Sports Car GT (first one that I played a lot), Grand Prix Legends (did not move me much), RBR, GTR (approx 2000 laps offline), GT Legends (installed and forgot), rFactor (was promising, but was forgotten after LFS S2) and finally LFS. Since getting LFS I've not bought another simulation, though Trackmania United is on my PC, that I and some friends like to play sometimes together. Of all the simulations it was only GTR that I played a lot, others did not have something that I was looking for. Until LFS.
I have a son of 1y and 9 months, a wife of course, a dog, and then an apartment under renovation - soon to be finished. I'm hoping to have at least two sessions online for each combo before the thursdays big race. Let's see how it goes.. Cu online.
Edit:
If size matters: 186cm, 96kg, shoe size 42.
Of my 33 years I've lived 4.5 in Sweden, 4 months in England (Newcastle) and the rest in Finland. I've not travelled around the globe, never been to India for example, and I've only driven through Hamburg. My favourite beer is a Swedish Carnegie´s porter. Then I like Finnish beers, I like the crisp and bitter taste in them. Also Murphy´s stout is one of the best.
Hello Romus,
You are wery welcome!
See you on track.
Heyas Romus *waves*
Nice first post Romus. Always good to see fine racers like yourself taking the time to pop in and say 'hello'. Much appreciated :thumb:
Hi and welcome. So you finally found here :)
Your server was nice because it was really the only one offering XFG/XRG racing in Westhill. Too bad that many people didn't find it. Often when I did laps there alone, nobody else joined.
Tervetuloa! :D Thanks go to Aquilifer for pointing you in our direction. Just the sort of chap we like. :thumbsup2: I love the way the average age aspect keeps going up and down. Must be about 50 now! :flirty: (you've lowered it)
Hi romus, a nice introduction it was. The more racers like yourself on the server, the better I say. May we have many good races together!
A warm welcome to you Romus. I have enjoyed seeing you on the race track and look forward to many more races.
Hi guys, I've been hanging around your server for a while now, really enjoying the 1hr race every week when I can make it.
I've been playing LFS for ages, started with the demo before S1 came out. I used to race with mouse but finally bought a wheel just over a year ago.
Its always fun to race with you guys, fair and friendly. Looking forward to many more.

Thank you all for the welcome.
My name is Bryn (my mother had a cruel sense of humour but didn't beat me too often), I am 45 years old & live in St Anne's near Blackpool UK. I am married & have a 27 year old son who, thankfully, left home many years ago :yahoo:. I drive an aging Saab 9000 which I hope lasts forever.
I spend far too much time on my PC usually playing games; LFS, Dirt, FSX, CoD4, BF2, Crysis, Fear & Bioshock are the most recent ones.
I first got into LFS with S1 & have played it, then forgotten about it, then come back to it many times over the years. The improvements in the game have made it more of a habit in the past year. I know I am not the fastest racer so I tend to concentrate on finishing races & not taking it all too seriously.
I was racing regularly on the CTRA servers (have just got my bronze licence in tintops & blue roof in bump & jump) but find the amount of idiots there too much to bear sometimes.
Then I tried the dMr server & got hooked. I agree with your ethics & particularly like the weekly combo idea - it has made me try cars & tracks I had not driven much before. The welcome has always been warm & helpful so, if it's OK with you all, I will keep coming back.
BhR :D
The great thing about starting a family early is that they're off your hands while you've still got some life left in you! Having said that, the amount of pc time you put in it's not much of a life! :)
Welcome and did someone show you where your locker is?
Welcome Bryn!
Nice to see you on the forums and on Ventrilo.
That has always been a good sign.

Absolutely no problem. You are always welcome mate. :)
Hi all,
after some good racing with you I thought I should also visit your forum and introduce myself :)
My real name is Michael. I'm 37 years old and I live in a small town southeast of Hamburg. Most of my freetime I spend with computer games - racesims, shooter, rpg - but since I bought LFS (4 year ago) its almost racing online only :D

On the tighter tracks ive actually often beaten lotus elise's and other very nice machinery to thier great dismay!
Have you tried the Zetec-S?
Biased opinion perhaps :)
Yeh ive driven one there great! the 1.25 engine is slooow in mine, it puts me in the 1.0 to 1.4 class and everyone else has 1.4's so i have to work hard to win!
Next season me and my dad will be buying a 106 rallye s2, strip it down fit roll cage and take it racing! I can't wait! :woot2:

Nice. I bet you have been playing a lot with the autocross editor in LFS :)
One thing...how many times do you have to drive the same track in those events?
You have 3 different course's and you have 3 timed runs on each course, 2 of your fastest runs count.
Some places radically change course to course and other places they will just move the odd cone. Personally its nice when they do subtle changes to the track because you can work on getting a rythm!
Im racing this weekend down at abingdon airfield, its a motorsport CARnival with autosolo and sprinting on the saturday and rallying on the sunday so me and a mate are ganna camp after the solo to watch the rallying :yahoo:
hello ben :byebye:
Hi there...
Think it's time for me to stop by here and say a "hello!"
Had raced at your great server for a long time now, and i really enjoy the racing an atmosphere at it.
My LFS-background is very much the same as my old team-mate Dee Slider.
Started when my little kid-brother, told me about some new online racing-game, that was free for download and use. must been 2003 or maybe late 2002.
At that time i used to drive F1GP, GPL, and Need for speed. I used to drive GPL with a cheap joystick, and the other with my keyboard, as i didn't have any wheel.
The Need for Speed-series was actually really fun to drive back then. NFS 3, and that Porsche-version was really fun. Back then i didnt have any internet, so i just playd them myself.
I got internet about the same time as i got the old LFS-demo, and after that i allmost never drove something else.
Was often at the Nettikka-servers (still pre-S1-time), until i found some server called "Milkinfirst Racing" Short after S1 was released, i join that MIF-team.
Next step was that i bought a black MOMO-wheel, and got me a real surprise... Like many others i had tought it was easier with wheel.
Hmm.. Was at least much more fun with the wheel :)
And who am i, age, nationality?
Yea... who i am, i'm just somebody who likes to do some races sometime. And i'm not very old, born -58 so i had just grown up..
And i live in that small country, between Norway and Finland.
Nooo! it's not Ã...land.... you have to guess again.. :eyebrow:
Thats my story so far... MooOOoooo...!

Hi!
I've come here mainly because interests in netKar PRO discussions, altough till the 1.0.3 finally got I was mostly driving LFS, also member of lfs CROteam racing. Was few times on your server, raced the RaceAbout there :D and was very glad that you used it... I just love the car and the concept behind it - engine where it should be...
Sim career :d lasts about 5 years, started it with netKar namie, which I still drive sometimes... 360 modena around Doninngton - is sort of first love to me. + it has Grobnik, only "real" racetrack here in Croatia. Driven GPL, rF occasionally, RBR... tried iRacing khm khm.
Loving all kinds of racing, in RL i don't drive anything, I think one day I'll compete in Croatian national hill climb championship, can get some cheap cars up there :).. Finishing my study, currently working in F1 Sim Race Klub - //www.grandprixproducts.hr
Was racing one evening on your nkp server, was good, but went off when it switched to Prato... i just don't like the track too much.
Hope to see you soon on track!
Bit out of order post, but last night was rumpus, and I'm still bit out of order
Cheers!
Hi lovretta. Have you driven in Force Dynamics 301? I saw it at your web page. How is it?
I should post something. Hmm.
Well, I don't have the career in sim racing you chaps do, which might explain why I'm so much slower. :) My sim career started in November 2008, when I found LFS, and shortly after found your server running the UF1 at Aston Cadet... I work with 3 other people who also play LFS, you've seen them on your servers I think (cueba11, wildmanwild and madmattwall).
The only other online game I've played is MTA:SA (Multi Theft Auto:San Andreas), which is where I learned polite racing, but the other skills aren't transferable to LFS I don't think.
IRL I drive a massive barge with BMW on the front and 728i on the back (yes, the piddling economic 2.8 straight six, I care for the environment me, honest) and do computer things for a job. Before you go on about the BMW, I used to have Volvo 740s, it could be much worse.
I enjoy the racing on dmr, so much less elitist than other servers, and as I find I pull off my best times when following faster racers :) you'll be seeing me a lot, I think. :)
I do actually live in Royston Vasey (for those who've seen the TV show "League of Gentlemen") or Hadfield near Glossop in UK (for those who haven't).
Er.

This is a local race, for local people. :)
Hem...
I may have skipped over this thread when I registered on the forum, it seems.
Better late than never, as says the guys coming to work around 11AM.
First of all I enjoy racing with you lot, great battles with dedication to win while remaining clean and friendly.
My LFS history:
Demo for years (2-3), part time, doing pretty well with XRG. Then I sneaked LFS home past the wife, registering to internet banking for this sole purpose (she owns the only house credit card and I could not ask for her to purchase LFS...) mid 2007.
Mouser from the first time in demo, I started to feel the limitations of this crude control device when I tried faster cars (mostly LX6, my head can not cope with the GTR cars speed).
So I also sneaked a G25 home (local shop while wife was traveling, I do feel ashamed each time I plug the wheel in but soon forget about it).
I am now back to slowpoke speed as I deserve, but still slowly improving.
I use no shifter as I have found no suitable way to mount it and get it stable enough (I have to store the G25 after use...) but the clutch brings a lot of immersion.
I have difficulties finding time for racing on Thursdays, but life is life...
Ventrilo:
I can listen to you on ventrilo but probably never talk
Kids in bed when I race, too close for conversations to happen
Wife in front of telly or working when I race, see above
No suitable microphone / headphones gear for the above reasons
I still love to hear your English accent, my Swiss one would probably sound funny as well :D
Username, Mille Sabords:
Captain Haddock's favorite exclamation, translates strangely in English as "Blistering Barnacles".
I do read a lot of Tintin adventures to my kids and this captain is the best character (bad temper, whisky drinker, pipe smoker ), so here goes the pseudo.

Name's Fabien, I live in Switzerland by the Geneva lake, work too much and have a wife (irritated at best when I play) and 2 kids (too young to be of assistance with the former).
I am currently middle aged. This will most probably evolve.
This post is overdue and long enough at the moment, any further question feel free to ask and I may consider answering.
Thanks for the races, see you on track!
welcome fabien :D
see ya on track m8 :boxing:
Nice post. Cu on track.
:g: Most prominent feature: Sneakiness. :sideways:
This is deemed a necessary because of being intimidated by wife.
Recommended course of action: Do like I do and confront said wife with: "Look here woman, if I want to spend £900 on computer driving equipment, I bloody well will! Now get back in the kitchen and prepare my dinner" :flirty:
"Oh, and easy on the poison, you nearly killed me last time"
:roflmao:
You've found a safe haven here Fabien. Welcome.:D
I appeal!
It is greediness, not sneakiness :)
Let me explain:
If we reach a truce and agree that I spend £100 on a "bloody stupid teenager looking computer game", then my other half feels legitimally entitled to spend £100 on a handbag, then of course matching shoes and a new lipstickandmycoatisalready2yearsoldand... while sneaking it did cost me less.
I shudder to consider how expensive a G25 would have been if I had tried the frontal approach :2cents:
Appeal upheld. Case dismissed. :D
Your financial logic shows you have grasped the true nature of monetary relationships within matrimony. I commend you on your clear thinking, and your recognition of the dangers of inadequate risk management strategies when wishing to improve your capabilities in the area of computer based simulation and entertainment.
Oh, and welcome! See you on-line.....

This is the system I have to use. Everything gets twice as expensive....
Oh, and thanks for posting. See you.:)
Welcome aboard Fabien...who ever you are :g:
About your name "Mille Sabords"...we had a guy called "Haddock" driving sometimes over a year ago. He is an old friend of mine but not seen him since as he got upset when LFS devs deleted the track PBs for everyone :sideways:
Welcome Fabien.:D
Hope to have more races soon.:boxing:
Hi Fabien :D
Hello & welcome.
(I'd see a doctor about the blistered barnacles, sound nasty)
Hey there Fabien. You're no stranger to us, but at least now we know where the nickname comes from! :D
Boy, reading some of you guys' posts I'm glad my girlfriend is totally okay with me playing computer/console games. Apart from one joint account we each have our own seperate bank accounts and we do with our own money what we want, as long as we pay our monthly contributions to the joint account for household purposes and the like. And I wouldn't want it any other way. I work for my money and I like to spend it on the things I like! :flirty:

A magical, nay mystical, change comes over them once the gold band is firmly attached. This comes under the same heading as 'My kids will never be allowed to do that' and 'You won't catch me staying in a job I don't like' :roflmao:
Well I'm principally against marriage so I won't be putting the gold band on anytime soon :norty:

Wipe that smile from your face... It has nothing to do with marriage
It comes with time, sneaks into your comfort with innocent looking words... ever heard of Responsibility? Partnership?
Kids...They sound OK at first, but once you let them in they sit in your armchair while you keep trying to sort it out :)
Good luck! Don't let them get close!
Only joking. But enjoy each moment of your present life :narnar:
I've been together with my girlfriend for 10 years. That's longer than many a couple who do get married nowadays. We've been living together for about half that time and all in all it's going well. She does want to get married and lots of tears have been shed over that subject but whaddayagunnado eh :)
As for kids... well... I guess I'll find out soon enough as I'm going to be a dad come April. We always agreed that we'd have children some day, but just not yet. It couldn't have come at a worse time, actually, as we're in the middle of renovating the house we bought last year, and we currently don't even have a bathroom. Not an ideal environment to take care of a newborn, but I'm sure we'll manage. There's plenty of relatives who can't wait to help out.

I never have figured out how that happens. :g:

I'm not exactly new, but I've never posted here, so if it helps.... Hi!!! :D

Hello,
I'm Michael aka Passo aka Mp3 Astra. I'm a rather prolific LFS forum member with nearly 2000 posts to my name. I'm here to say hi but also ask one tiny little question:
Where do I sign up to Thursday night races?
And OH MY GOODNESS, your forum is upside down... how the hell did that happen? EDIT - Ah... Just had to change an option. I was very disorientated for a moment.
Heya Michael! I think we all "know" you from the LFS forum as you're a pretty prolific member, as you said :)
No need to sign up for races, just join in time. Quali is from 8pm to 8:25pm, race starts at 8:30. All times GMT. If you find the server is passworded, you'll find the password in this (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3363) thread (first post, scroll down a bit).
If you're into points, we keep points for the thursday night races. Check 'em out here (http://lfs.deadmen.co.uk/combostats/index.asp) :)
Welcome to the forums and maybe I'll see you on track! It's been rather quiet on the dMr server ever since nKP 1.0.3 was released... :g:
Thanks for the info!
Yeah, I know a few LFS teams have had driver numbers cut because of NKP. I tried it out myself... I think it takes quite a lot of commitment to learn so if I was to try and become good, I'd probably have to give up LFS for a while. But that ain't gonna happen!
Hi Michael, welcome to the forums :D
Hi Michael. Are you driving Opel (Vauxhall) Astra?
Welcome Michael. We have nKP servers as well y'know. :norty: See you on one track or another. Aston Club for me tonight. Ooooooo!
Nope, I don't drive an Astra. In fact, an Astra caused me to fail my driving test last week. Bloody Astras...
Haha, sorry to hear that. Better luck next time :)
Quote from: Mp3 Astra;260889Nope, I don't drive an Astra. In fact, an Astra caused me to fail my driving test last week. Bloody Astras...
It's a well known fact that Astras cause more driving test failures than Ferraris. Lesson? Take your next test in a Ferrari. :)
Welcome Michael, :D enjoyed the racing tonight, some good tussles.:)
Hi Astra, Welcome to the forum matey :flirty:
Hello all :) I am Matt, I've been into sim racing for about a year now, but only started racing online in the last few months. Getting better, steadily heh.
Had a few runs on the XRG combo which is a lot of fun. Seems like the snow has been a bit of a blessing in disguise :D
I mostly play LFS, but bought NkPro a month or so ago (dying online community  seems like I missed the boat despite the new release) and iRacing. Maybe I'll see you all about the servers :)

Please post your iRacing name so I can add you to my friends list.
Mine is Verner B. I will do iRacing exclusively for a while.

Lol strange, didn't notice :) I've bumped into a few Gravesendians over time heh. Are you stranded at home too? (I ride a motorcycle, a lovely excuse :yahoo:)
My iRacing name is Matt Girvan. I'm still getting to grips with it though, the Solstice feels really weird and my only experience online ended with me losing SR for spinning off near the end so I've only really been doing practice sessions since haha. Bought the Radical which is awesome though, as is the Legends. Wish there were some proper Road series's for the Legends though as I can only find Oval :(
 affraid not, fire at work yesterday so had to come in today.
Quote from: mattgirv;261653Wish there were some proper Road series's for the Legends though as I can only find Oval :(
Look for the Legends weekly Road racing Cup. The practice and TT is available all the time, and the races are once a week. Race and Qualy on Wednesdays. I think it uses the Skip Barber shedule.
This is for you too Gnomie!
Quote from: mattgirv;261653I ride a motorcycle, a lovely excuse :yahoo:
Welcome to the forums, Matt!
What motorcycle do you ride? I doubt my employer would find that a valid excuse. He'd probably say "take the bus" or something. Of course, they're not riding out either I assume, over where you live? :)
I have a Honda CB-1, a VFR800Fi and a Yamaha FZR600. So I have a few, :) Want to get something that I can enjoy the snow with, maybe some sort of enduro. :g:
I work about 40 miles away so its a fair enough excuse. Yesterday buses stopped running at one point here, and the trains weren't running at all. I had no chance haha. I think I am probably out of luck for most of this week anyway by the look of things.
Lucky bastid :D I wouldn't mind being stranded at home for a week :)
I ride a Suzuki SV1000S myself. It's in need of some fresh rubber (especially the rear wheel) so currently I usually take my girlfriend's Kawasaki ER6-N to go to work.

Yeah, StableX mentioned it too. Might check it out when they're running on some of the tracks that I already own. :)

hi all ..... I've recently enjoyed a few races with the FXR @ Blackwood. Love the idea of a weekly combo change and the attitude of racers on your servers. It was interesting reading about some of you blokes .... so here's a little about me.
I've been racing "sims" -omg- probably 10 years. Since GT1 anyway. Gave up on GT with the delay of GT5 and real OL racing. Now I'm glad I dropped it - found LFS a couple of years ago and been driving it daily ever since. Don't even have my PS hooked up anymore. Used a controller for years - until my thumbs were both distorted by huge calluses. Switched to Momo wheel, then DFP and now real happy with my G25 and 28" monitor.
I tried rFactor a bit - but my time is limited .... I want to spend the time I have actually on the track rather than fusing with mods/addons etc. I'ver recently tried the nKPro demo and may check it out some more (I know you guys have a server).
I did do some OL races on the CTRA servers a year or so ago but have not done much OL racing at all - so I feel like a real noob. I do realize that "racing" is a whole lot more than hotlapping and hope to learn without causing too much mayhem around me :woot2: I've mostly been driving the lower hp cars - but I've started spending some time with the bigger beasts. The RWD cars are a handfull for me
IRL - I'm a 59 year old semi-retired father of 2 teenage boys. Interesting reading the family stories of a couple of you guys. Mine is quite different. My wife and I were married for 20 years before we had kids. There is something to having kids early so you have some time left after the kids leave the nest. But those 20 years with my wife BK (before kids) were an adventure not possible with the responsibilities/attention that kids require. Unfortunately my wife passed away about 3 years ago. To you young whippersnappers with a wife and young kids - might I just say - put them first in your heart...then the yours/mine won't matter so much. "Il faut cultiver votre jardin." But then, I'm still as ever a hopeless romantic
Living in the eastern US, the peak DMR server times are not the best for me. Especially with the coming start of baseball/softball season (the boys are both varsity players and I play softball with the young blokes still). See you guys on the track as often as I can make it :byebye:
welcome easyed :D
Welcome to the forums Easyed. Sorry to hear your wife passed away. I hope I never have to experience such a loss.

Welcome easyed, nice post.
Sadly, dMr racing is a bit fragmented lately. We have people in LFS, nKpro and iRacing these days.
Anyway, hope to see you on track some day.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Fun hour today at Blackwood - I'm hooked :D Great fun hanging onto DeeSlider for 20 laps only to have it spoiled by a crackup just in front of him in the tight chicane. I was blind to it coming thru the chicane, DeeSlider slowed properly and I just didn't see it coming - and ended up punting him to the side. Glad you weren't disabled mate - and glad you managed to get your place back ahead of me by the end of the race.
Welcome easyed, nice post.
A good nights racing too, stayed in my mirrors for 20 mins, couldnt shake you off. :) Dont worry about our 'bump' it all happened a bit quick. And i did make a good recovery :D
Greetings Easyed. Welcome to dMr, you'll love it here. A great bunch of guys, and fast, fair racers to boot. You won't regret joining. Hope to see you on track soon.

EDIT: nevermind, read your other posts :)

Hi again Tubbz, glad you're sticking around :D
hello and a warm welcome :D
Hi Tubbz, welcome :D.
Hi and enjoy your stay :)
Hi all,
I've just joined up after enjoying the last couple of Thursday night races on your LFS server. There was a really good standard of driving, everybody very fair but certainly not giving any places away cheaply!
The combo changes each week are going to force me to try (with varying degress of failure ) these combos new to me, which in turn will freshen up LFS a bit.
Also like the way you seem to encourage drivers of all abilities, so long as they are respectful racers. Not always the case elsewhere.........
Anyway, I hail from Edinburgh and I'm here to cause some more mid-field battles :)
See you out there!

Try joining us on Ventrillo (details in forum) for interesting chats :roflmao: and general banter during and after races. :D

Yeah, those were the goode olde dayes! :D
Welcome!
Thanks for the warm welcome folks :)
I think I've just been lucky with the combo choices so far, I firmly expect to be back in my default midfield position before long.
Certainly remember a few of you guys from the CTRA days, and I've been looking for some substitutes to fill that gap. Looks like I might have landed on my feet here :D
Joined the GTAL, OLFSL and taken part in a couple of the NDR events, but it's nice to have the release the dMr server offers.
C ya all at SO4, UFR styleeeee!
ps - anyone who does a bit of rock climbing might recognise where the HVS5b comes from, but Rooster is what my mates call me.
Howdy Rooster, welcome to the fourms :byebye:
Well I thought it was time I finally joined up and said hello, so "Hellooo".
My names Tim (like ya couldn't guess from my race name), 45 years old and have been playing LFS since Nov. 2008. Have been addicted to racing games/sims since the good old days of Geoff Crammond and his GP games(brilliant).
I may not be the fastest out there but I like to think when I get into a battle with someone, I'm a fair/clean racer, "incidents" do happen though:doh:
Anyway, glad I found the dMr Server :thumb: and hopefully I will finally manage to join one of the Thursday 1 Hr races.
See you on track,
Obmit (Tim)
P.s. May all your crashes be happy ones.
hi Tim,
and welcome to our little corner of the internet :byebye:
hope to race ya on track soon :boxing:
Welcome Timbo! :) You seem to fit the dMr profile wonderfully; not fast but fair and clean, and 40+ years old :D
Glad you signed up here!
Hi Tim. Thanks for taking the time to say 'Hi'. Much appreciated. :thumb:
Welcome Tim!
Nice to see you here.
Hi Tim,
Glad you made it. Great racing with you for the past few weeks, really enjoyed it. :D
The next thing to do is get on Ventrilo-we wont take the P (honest) but it does increase one's enjoyment. See you later :)
P.S Its nice to see the youngsters joining in.
Welcome Tim. I recall our little tussle at South City. :thumbsup2: You never know, you might see me again sometime. :D
I agree with Lamie, it's good to encourage the youngsters! :lmfao:
Heya Tim, glad you finally joined up :D get on ventrilo, it doubles the fun.
Nice to see some of the yuonger ppl, that have the right spirit..!
Have been fun, to racing with you Obmit, i know you are an realy nice and clean.
And your not slower then the avarege of us... like me... Had some really nice battles with you, the last year... Hope to have a lot more of that coming.... MoooOOooo....!
Hey whippersnapper - glad you found your way in
Hope to see lots more of ya on the track - sorry ya couldm't get in for the Thursday race. It was a big crowd !!
Hi there Tim, welcome to the forum. :) Always a pleasure to race with you.
Good to see another "youngster" around!
The 1 hour race is a wonderful event, don't be shy and try it :D
Must get Ventrilo on this new laptop... if only for listening ;)
Thanks for the warm welcome to the forums guys :D
Still havent managed to get a mic for use on Ventrilo, but to be honest, I don't know if my connection will handle LFS and Ventrilo at the same time. Problem is I havent got a landline here, so I'm using Mobile Broadband, which can be a little bit flaky at times:sad:, thats why I have bouts of disconnecting sometimes. Does seem to have been a bit more reliable for a few days now though,,, uhoh thats done it, kiss of death, commentators curse,,, etc.
Anyway hopefully catchya all on track for some more "fights":boxing:(if I can keep up with you) a bit more often from now on, and will do my best to make it for Thursday nights event.
Quote from: Obmit;295887I don't know if my connection will handle LFS and Ventrilo at the same time.
It should do, ventrilo doesn't use a lot of bandwidth.
Quoteand will do my best to make it for Thursday nights event.
See you there :thumb: steady sometimes beats quick, I should know :)
Hi guys, I started playing on your server last night and I think its great.
Looking for the passwords now for ventrillo and the race alter on.

Gee if Albert's going to race perhaps I'll have to get on the grid again..
Great. :D
This week we are mainly drivin' the XRR @ South City Chicane Course (SO6).

Hi everyone,
For a couple of weeks I go to the server DMR, but until now I was forced to greet you at the forum :). I like to ride your DMR server, you are a super bunch and I like the new combo each week. But I prefer LX6 :). Still I am surprised your fair play and how clean you drive. As you can see, he noticed that a lot of other riders, which is just as well.
I hope you are always so great and everyone will enjoy the server as much as me. So come on! :)
PS: sorry for my English (and thanks to Google Translator:-D)

Love all types of gaming but play Rfactor alot on my pc .
Im up for any sim racing if my pc spec allows ,i keep the arcade racing for the xbox :rolleyes:when i feel like being taken out on the first corner :roflmao:
Hope to race soon when i get to grips with the forum and teamspeak :D:D
Hi Essy, welcome to Dead Men.:) If you want help with anything, just ask.
Few of use rFactor these days, preferring to use Live for Speed in its stead.
LFS will run extremely well on any PC built in the past 10 years and I can assure you that our races are
closely administered so there is very little repetition of Turn One carnage on our server
As Jesse would say "this week we are mainly drivin' the Mini(UF1) at Kyoto Long track" lots of low speed,
ultra close, edge of your seat racing.
Look forward to seeing you there.:racing:
Heya essy, welcome to the forums :D
I noticed you joined Teamspeak last night but you must have had some trouble as we couldn't hear you.
Cheers you 2 ,Yep i did pop in Teamspeak ,you sounded like a nice bunch so next time i might switch me mic on lol.
Tara for now catch ya soooon .
Hi essy, great to hear from you, here's the demo of Live for speed: http://www.lfs.net/?page=downloads
We also have a demo server we can fire up for you and your buddies, we can stick a password on it so you can all race together without the rough and tumble of the demo servers, and open a room on Teamspeak :thumb:
Hi essy welcome to the forum and DMW!
I'm an LFS online racer myself. But I do have to keep rFactor and GT Historic installed for some offline driving. Really great mod.
Hi Seany .
thanks for the link.
just downloaded the demo , looks good so will have a play to get use to the game menus etc .
then go from there .
I am on xfire as well so look me up if you use it , search essy11
will have a word with fellow racers and see if i can get them to join up too .
So well - this thread doesn't seem to be in use much, but here it is: my first post :D I've been racing for quite a while now on the dMr server and just wanna say thanks for the clean and fast races. It finally became my favourite place to race... Keep up that great stuff!
Cheers and Have Fun!
PS: ... and always remember: Never Eat Yellow Snow (not that there'd be some here, not even white one, but pre-answering the question whether Neys is a typical german name)
Welcome Neys,
Good racing with you, thx for keeping it clean :)
Ant
Heya Neys, welcome to the forums :D it's great having you race on ours and the Monkeys server, always fun.
I don't eat any snow, regardless of colour.
Hi NEYS, Great to hear from you and pleased you have enjoyed the racing but please slow down and give me a chance
Hi Neys, thanks for stopping by!
Always great racing with you :racing:
Hey - thanks for all of the warm words :-)
@lameduck: I would have said that Kyoto National is your terrain, but today Ant sent me a set and, well, now I see some chances  This set is a big mystery for me - I have to find out, why it behaves so much different than mine...

It's because he's Canadian and can only drive on ice or snow
:D
