Title: CS tourney
Post by: sheepy on August 06, 2007, 01:15:41 PM
shall we run this similar to last time?

5v5 or 6v6 depends on ppl.

diffrent maps per round straight knockout.

Mr DR i believe that this is more your domain. any thoughts on this at the moment?

I think sadako could take the reins with this one but i have a few head on maps that could be excellent for this tournament. A break from TCS on one map could be a change.

The tournaments never are TCS (at least on the LANs I attended). I think we should see how many people actually want to play the cs tournament. 5v5 or 6v6 seems sensible.

QuoteI suspect we are playing CS Source at the LAN and to play VIP (as_maps) we will need VIP mod installed on the server and on clients as well. I have had a go at this before together with Whitey and I will ask him to check out the possibilites of having server with VIP MOD installed. Speaking of AS maps there is an awesome map called as_recon (http://www.4players.de/rendersite.php?LAYOUT=download_file&spiel=cssource&typ=Maps&page=1&world=cs&subtyp=as_Maps&subsubtyp=Messer&DOWNLOADID=158386) that we should have in the tournament if we get VIP MOD up and running. You can still download it and look at it but the VIP effect will not be active. It is a great looking map. It is just worth the download to look at it.

de_star (http://www.4players.de/rendersite.php?LAYOUT=download_file&spiel=cssource&typ=Maps&world=cs&subtyp=de_Maps&subsubtyp=Messer&orderby=anzdownload&search=star&page=1&DOWNLOADID=158603), a map that would be good for the tournament. Probably not many that seen it before. Easily distributed at the LAN.

cs_office07 (http://www.cstrike-planet.com/maps/1159-cs_office07) is a variant of office which always is good fun.

fy_poolday_redefined (http://www.4players.de/rendersite.php?LAYOUT=download_file&spiel=cssource&typ=Maps&world=cs&subtyp=fy_Maps&subsubtyp=Messer&page=1&DOWNLOADID=158418) would break from the normal maps and is always intense and fun. This version have an overpass that can be used as well.

A map that I would also like to try out is de_wanda (http://www.4players.de/rendersite.php?LAYOUT=download_file&spiel=cssource&typ=Maps&page=1&world=cs&subtyp=de_Maps&subsubtyp=Messer&orderby=anzdownload&DOWNLOADID=158342) (70 MB) but it requiers 30+ players as it is huge and there are lots of routes. It could be a fun map but nothing for the tournament.

When it comes to other games (BF or whatever) I think we should use the opportunity to play some of the new games that have or will come out until the LAN e.g. HALO 2, Unreal Tournament 3, Crysis etc. Halo 1 was a blast at LAN 5 and dominated completely.

I think we can manage to provide copies to those who can't buy them.

From what I have seen of Whiteys Source Mod server VIP mod will probably be accessible. :woot2:

That it will! :D
Nothing needs to be installed at the client side but it would probably speed things up if the maps are installed separately.  All the maps will be available via a share on my/Sadako's PC(s). :flirty:
