I know it's early days but just wanted to let you know we are getting lag on Boomer and Meathook. The choke is about the same level as before the move.
ok, I need traces to see where it's occuring. There shouldn't be any issues with any loss or choke here and the new company have assured me that any issues will be dealt with. However I need some evidence of this!
Also, pings are given lowest priority on the core routers, so don't be surprised if you get some spikes here.
I'm currently running a trace to ba3 and it's looking great so far.
I've just run a trace to BA3 and everything from Brighstar in is fine. I am seeing some loss and highish pings in the BY (Virgin) router and in *.c4l.co.uk
looks ok here, that 100% packet loss is most likely to be the router configured to drop ping requests. This is getting to be more common unfortunately.
The high points appear to be on the c4l which I believe is connections for london. I'll speak with them tomorrow to see if there is any issues.
We only got the problem when the server had a lot of people on (> 14). We had a number of long lag spikes during Italy. I never got a traceroute tonight but will be sure to capture it next time.
Kreg did send me this:

Bastet reporterd a big improvement in ping and no loss/choke when he tried it last night. Not sure how many people were on the server at the time though.

Pardon me for adding an after thought:
Imo choke is nothing to do with your net connection quality and more about your rate settings. You can remove 100% of choke by properly setting your rate, cl_cmdrate etc commands.
Loss & Ping are more the quality of connection issues. I know this is not 100% perfect for absolutely all circumstances, but that's always the way I viewed it.
TL.
I don't have any plot to present either. Yesterday I switched from MH to Boomer and on Boomer we were 4 players and had no choke or lag. I used HLSW to tell people on MH to move over. Already when 6-7 players were on Boomer the choke started and was real bad.
I'm having a look at BA3 just now. I think there may be two issues; one is that the screen in RDP keeps lagging now and again which sounds like a connectivity issue which I'll monitor, the second is that the FTP server is constantly running at 25% CPU utilisation because it is trying to bind to the old IP address and it won't let me in to change it - I'm reading through docs at present to see where info is stored and I'll change it manually.
I'll keep you posted.
OK, fixed the FTP server so it is now binding to 77.108.129.48 (BA3 nic3)
Mu understanding of this thread is running at about 15% so I'll leave it to you guys but again just want to add my thanks for all the work you're putting in.
PEN
the firewall lan links just went down/up again several times so it looks like there is a problem with the firewall that has only just emerged. I've put in a support call with sonicwall and am awaiting to hear from them.
I've just set the links to force 100 FD as requested by sonicwall. will monitor.

I know were looking in to it.
had a few spikes earlier, but nothing like last night.
Thanks for all your hard work behind the scenes...:D
OK, Gandy has put latest firmware on firewall.
All firewall ports are set to 100/full duplex as are server NICs (nothing left to auto)
I have played about with server settings/rates etc to get them as smooth as I can at present. Testing on MH this afternoon with 8 bots and me gave 1 or 2 loss and 1 or 2 choke. that's the best I have seen in a long time. Can you guys monitor and see how it holds up?
Cheers
feedback from KKND and WW this PM seems to indicate server is running smoothly. I'll check again this evening to see how it holds up.
Have too said i never have any issues with lag ore choke..
But servers seems too running very smooth..:D
