Unlocks are not available just now but its only been running 48 hours and I haven't tested everything yet. Once we prove stability we can worry about the configs :)

Should you run in to any problems, there's allways the RiP-guys who know quit a bit as they have a BF2142server running aswell (ranked though).

Current map rotation and setup is bog standard Conquest mode.
Unlocks aren't available on the server as it stands at the moment, at least they weren't last night.
I had a drive and fly around on it last night and it seemed to be pretty smooth, a few blips when I was in a walker and the footsteps stopped making noises, but I don't know if this was at my end.
VC icon seemed to be responding correctly, but I had no-one to talk to.:crying:
Punkbuster complained at me, but I think this is because of my version being old, I haven't joined a server in 5 months. After about 10 minutes I think it updated me, my firewall popped up with access requests.

1)Happends from time to time. No footsteps sounds and it seems like your sliding forward. Getting in and out the walker sometimes helps (ps, remember when pressing "left shift" the walker moves faster, pressing "z" it'll crouch and then it's more difficult to hit, the legs of the walker are most vulnarable, 2 pilum shots and it's down).

Also several kinds of other problems will make BF2142 just go to desktop or loosing your internetconnection. It's an EA-product...

Yup, it running on the old BF2 port of 16567, not the usual BF2142 port 17567. I think this makes the browser miss it on a normal scan.
Got there after 2 disconnections. Then BF2142 crashed and after a complete restart of BF2142 I got in.
Flew around a bit and had a ping of 60 so it was allright. But then again, it was just some solo-flying for 20 minutes or so so I decided to go on a rankedserver.

It would be nice if the people can check out several unlocks (as in picking up kits so they can see if it's worth the unlock).

I do have to say that there is quit a difference between the basic weapons and the unlocks (as an example the basic engineer antitank and the pilum, usually 4 shots with the first 1 to destroy a tank from the front/side and 2 shots with the Pilum).
Probably when there is a game going on with only -=[dMw]=-'ers and not all people have the unlocks we might need a rule like; "Don't use unlocks when a game is on". Otherwise the more experienced players have a really great advantage to the newer guys and we're still -=[dMw]=-.
If anyone wants to check an unlock on the server then let me know.
I've almost got all the unlocks now (except the DS-22 Sniper Decoy and CM3-N Radar Grenade) but I'll probably have these soon (Kakehund/Ragnarh has all of the unlocks).

Hovering over the unlocks gives a nice read about what they do but best thing is to check them at our server...
Just tried joining the server (actually bout 6 hours ago) and got the error message "you have a more up to date version installed"
I only have the latest patch it looks like some patching is to be done or for me to scale back to 1.25 (i have 1.40 with the highway tampa map from intel)
BF2142-1.40 patch is just a BETA-version as of what I've heard so far. No official patch released yet so 1.25 is still the official one to be used untill EA releases 1.40 officially.
BB, we tryed to speak last night on the Comms (me and Exodus) but couldn't hear eachother (I know my VC's work in BF2142 but will check them again).
Maybe trying it with Liberator when he has some time.
For the rest Ex, I hope you got to know the different unlocks a bit. Let me know if you want to know about a certain unlock.
But are you playing from Pakistan or such? Through BF2142stats it seems so...
I think there was a port problem. Once the new firewall is installed Gandy is going to ensure that our previous port settings for BF2 are placed on the new firewall for BF2142 (the port requirements are the same). Should have VC working in the next day or so, thanks for testing last night and appreciate everyones patience.

It's a bit easier to explain the unlocks over VC's.
Exodus knows quit a bit allready now (but I wont tell him everything :devil:).
Hopefully an inhouse scrim can be done sometime (4vs4 or more).

I guess this is why I couldn't get onto the NS servers, same thing about reverting back to old settings e.t.c. Do I have to re-install BF2142, or can I just uninstall the patch, cant see it in the Ccleaner list?

I wouldn't be surprised if it was just a problem at my end, as I may not have configured the VC settings properly. Ran the test a couple of times and seemed ok, and went onto the Tactical Gamer server last night where I could hear other fine.

Yeah, very useful stuff there that you gave me info for, will give ya a shout If I get stuck with something :). Used it to my best advantage after leaving the hook and trying some other servers. Took a crack at SL on one of the servers, the one you joined and got beat. :whistling2:

Ah that once yeah. I took the roll of Commander on my side but I had 2 Squads that wouldn't listen to calls. I had 1 squad near a backflag but they wouldn't want to take it even after I put UAV up there several times showing it as clear. To bad some people just don't listen as SquadLeaders.
I ended up on taking flags myself otherwise you'd beaten us even faster.
The weird thing is, on BF2142stats you have a Pakistani flag behind your name. :)

It was a pretty decent server, small with alot of vehicles. Usually good for long rounds and alot of basecapping (and usually better teamwork except that once). As you've found out, I also like to take down Commander assets.
Especially when you have a good enemycommander who knows what he's doing.
You can tell if he puts up an EMP-strike on a Walker followed by arty.
Another tip for the fast cars; Using Shift and you can outrun the motionmines, best thing if you hear they're near, use it...They need time to get on high before they'll actually go towards you.

Suprising, my squad was working quite well together, however my commander refused to give me any emp strikes when you rolled around in the walker (middle flag location), nor any supplies when need. :sad:

I think this is because when I registered you select your'e location in the world. However I knew that wherever you told EA you were living this would then put a picture of the national flag on youre stats page. Although living in the UK, thought to be different to have PK flag on stats. :)

When I joined under the same CO and started a Squad with you in it I had the same. I asked over VC's, type and through the commandsystem.
Atleast I know how to put my Squad on flags without the commander having to do so. The weird thing was though that after I used "Squad attack here", he'd put us up to defend a flag way in the back where no-one was.
The Commanders job is to help spot enemies, give attack/defendorders, take down walkers (especially on that map), give supplies. That way not only he'll get better responce from the SL's when he asks them to capture/defend flags or do this or that. Also he'll get more points if he helps out by giving orders/supplies and so.

I know, I found that out the map earlier as I could easily walk around the whole map in a walker without coming up an motionmines.
I put them down though and had lots of kills with them. I reckon the opposite team didn't use them or didn't have them unlocked. They tryed taking me down with their guns only (which is possible) but I'd just walk over them :devil:.

Yah, through trial and error I came across this function, quite handy with aiming your cross-hair at the flag, issuing orders e.t.c. .
Began using the squad beacon too, on fall of Berlin I think. However whilst trying to capture the "pond" flag on that map, I noticed that one of the enemy SL had placed their own beacon there, because I could hear this annoying beeping. Died about 7 times trying to destroy it even whilst trying to tell my squad that there was one there, but they either didn't know what I was talking about or chose to ignore me.

I'll look into this. The VOIP server is running on BlackAdder2 and the BF2142 server is running on BA3 (the same config as we had for BF2) - they have been setup to recognise each other so I don't see why it won't work. I may try running the VOIP server on BA3 to see how it copes?

OK VOIP should now be working. all i did was to change the password on the VOIP server and the BF2142 server to a different one to what had been set then restarted both machines. For whatever reason they can now see each other (VOIP server reports BF2142 server connecting so it should be all working). Why it didn't work before I don't know because both passwords were the same. Maybe it is due to the order of starting the server. I started the VOIP server first and then started the BF server (can't remember what order I started them in last time but I'm typing this here as a reminder in case we hit the problem again).
