Title: VIP mod on Baldric
Post by: Dr Sadako on August 20, 2007, 08:18:12 PM
At the moment we are experimenting with VIP mod on Baldric. For the time being this server is restricted to Charlie members only.

Do not ask for the Charlie members for the password as you will NOT recieve it.

VIP Mod as in Oilrig? Would that require a pre-downloaded mod to play on anyway, or work straight off?

(just curious not trying to wangle an invite)

More info in this thread; http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=20623&page=2

If you can't read this thread it means you don't have the status to play it (as in Charlie-status)...

It downloads all the bits needed when you connect to the server.

Cool, I can't think of a place where VIP would work better than a TCS server. Except maybe a utopian society (the kind where everyone dresses in white and it's always sunny), or maybe a bodyguard training school.

So, what maps are on the rotation then? All normal maps simply running the VIP mod? Or do we get some custom VIP maps, like as_oilrig (man that map was sweet)? Or both?

In what way would the mod work better in a utopian society? :g:

All of the VIP maps are custom maps (start as_) although as_italy is virtually identical to cs_italy but with a great big chopper on the roof of the house!

I think one of the things we as a community need to come up with are some "TCS" style rules for the VIP mod. If we don't it is too easy for the Ts to end up camping the escape point and it just turns into a "last 30yds rush".

So, thinking caps on ladies and gents; what should the "TCS Approach" to the VIP Mod be?

hmm yeah, was mainly what we ended doing, tho main issue i see atm, with the VIP is that they are either very small, like the snow one (cant recall name) or HUUUGE like the one we tried with the evac point at the train

Well my idea is everyone except the VIP becomes Flash Bang carriers. just throwing one after another over and over. While one player hangs back to guide to VIP to the enemies so he can club them to death with his umbrella.
**requires voice comms** And the timing of flashes to leave enough time for the VIP to be able to hear directions but not been seen.

Another idea would be everyone line up in a perfectly staight line and then when an enemy is spotted even numbers strafe left first and then right and odd numbers strafe right first and then left and every prime number of strafes when they reach the middle they go back to the way they'd just come from. This was tracking you as a target would be hard. and you'd have twice the number of people shooting. The person at the back can stay in the middle to provide a 3rd angle but would probably die quickly.
**INCREDIBLY inpractical...useless in all but the most specific situations. good excuse to taunt people for not knowing even and odd, or prime numbers.**

Type distracting messages that the VIP is AFK and have him very slowly walk towards to exit. If they shoot him say they cheated and demand a rematch.

I'm awesome at tactics
