Could anyone help me pls, i had to reistall steam etc, from formating drive and i try to run a game of CSS and nothing happens, it says preparing to launch but then nothing happens, iv run outta ideas, iv tried this delete the gay blob thing but ever time i load steam it updates it and then im at square one again.
Has anyone had this problem? or got any ideas how to solve this, deleting blob files dont seem to work as they are back on when i start steam.

Close Steam. Check processes in task manager after a while, to be sure steam has shut down. Check if steam is still there, if so, kill the process. Start steam. Just an idea...
I have tried this method and it dont work, and deleting that clientregisrty.blob file is not working either, im getting ticked off with this stuff, im gonna un-install again and re-install all again if it dont work this time im gonna give up totally and not bother with CS any more.

Sorry lots of questions:
has CSS finished updating before you try to launch it? (right click on steam icon, select "games" and then "my games"). CSS should be at 100%. If it isn't leave it until it is.
Can you launch any other steam games? HL2, CZ etc?
Just checking... are you certain steam is not running when you delete the blob? Sorry, all I can think of. I am sure some of the other chaps will come up with something :)
Just reinstalled now gotta wait for all to be downloaded now and ill try again, and it says 100% when i do try playing,
Anyway ill report back once full install is complete

Ok so im not getting anywhere with steam, iv un-installed and re-installed enough now and its being crap, its not running my games iv tried all that iv read on the forum and its useless so i give up.
Ill be off for quite some time now til i get a completely new machine.

If I read that correctly none of the games are launching at all? That could be a graphics issue? It is possible to add startup options to your games (doing it the following way means your game will always use these options even if you create a desktop icon for it):
Right click on Steam, Games, My Games
Find CS:Source in list then right clcick and select Properties.
Click on "Set Launch Options" add some suitable entries from the list available here. (http://home.covad.net/%7Ek25125/SteamyThings/HL_Command_Line_Switches_FAQ.htm)
try the following:
-console -d3d -full -w 1024
Which should force full screen direct 3d at 1024x768.
If that doesn't work it may be worth trying
-console -soft -full -w 1024
which will start in software mode and allow you to choose D3D from the normal options menu (make sure config.cfg is not write protected first.)
