Hey guys.

Just wondering whether you had thought any more about the official games list for the LAN.

Not only:

Quote from: TeaLeaf;200313Just a reminder that we need some notice to get our server requirements sorted well in advance of the LAN. If you have 'special' packs that you need installed on the server then they'll need to be with Oldie well before the LAN so that we can set them up, test them in good time for use. We have the hardware, it;s the software shiznit you need to get confirmed.
TL.

but also: We need to give people a fair bit of notice if we're running something new / different to give them time to go out and buy it if they so wish.

at the moment im thinking just driving and CS.

especially as we only have 1 day for the tourneys which gives about 5 hours for tourney running.

1 1/2 to 2 hours for cs main tourney
1 hour for driving
1 to 1/2 hour(s) for degal

not a lot of time for any thing else tourney wise as we dont want to take all of ppls time as i think that the tf2 may want to b played a lot.

opinions quick plx

I agree with the comps - we don't have a whole heap of time for more comps. Maybe get a mass BF2 or whatever is we get a chance but that can be done on the hoof.

It's more the 'officially supprted games' we need to sort..... Obvioulsy Source, WoW and LFS but which, if any, other FPS? .... BF ? TF2? 2142?

As far as the lan maps for source are concerned Sheepy is going to sort out the main cs maps for the tournaments and i will sort out the deagle map. Sadako i think was looking into a couple of possible maps but these need to be finalised. Also Steam are going to announce something about TF2 today which could mean we may have it by the lan fingers crossed. If thats the case we will be able to add it too our list of games. Will people need to purchase it tho? Airborne and Bioshock could go on the list of games but i am not sure about the following. If they are availiable people may get them there. Anyway any thoughts? Doorman and I had a chat at the bbq and he expressed a view that LFS is not a game which is easy to simply pick up and play from scratch and if a racer was chosen he would prefer something like need for speed.

I quite liked the idea of racing in BF2 as mooted by TL.

A. Most people have the game
B. It's not as intense as LFS
C. You don't need a steering wheel or extra stuff to use it.

I really like the idea of ringing the changes on maps for the CS matches... that would certainly freshen things up. It could also be tied in with map familiarisation games on Friday which would draw people in so they get a chance to play it.

WDYT?

I had a chat with Ob about this race in Bf2 and this could be just what we're looking for. easy to setup and all someone needs to shout is go after the track has been setup. This would be really fun a lan admin would of course need to spectate to see no one cheats but it could be really good fun. Maybe a recording could be made so we can play back the home straight on a projector.
