Title: Biased or not?
Post by: Zootoxin on September 06, 2007, 10:05:28 AM
Hi men hows it going?

Just wondering if any of you FM2007 players have noticed the totally biased nature of the game when it comes to Man Utd and Chelsea?

I am playing as liverpool and have a fabulous team

Torres Robinio

Babel Gerrard Alonso Sergio Ramos

Aurelio Agger Carragher Clinhco

Reina

Thats my main team with bags of talent on the bench I am third in the league I smash teams like spurs everton villa
hit 7 past pompy.

But... I have lost heavily to ManU and Chelski on every occasion and I am beginning to think there is something up ManU are undefeated in the league!!

you guys had simular problems?

On another note I sold crouch to Real Madrid and he's there top scorer with 17 goals so far ROFL

Hi mate,

I'm currently playing as Liverpool too, currently in the year 2013!

Obviously I'm not trying to teach you to suck eggs, but bringing in decent players is only half the equation - you also need:

- tactics that play to the strenght of your players and spending a lot of time on tweaking individual instructions (not just dribbling often) but creativity etc
- team instructions is probably one of the largest factors on tactics - depending on how much creative freedom you give your team and players as a whole, how far up there defensive line is going to be etc all has a huge impact
- good coaches with a good training programme
- if you've bought a lot of players into the squad don't expect them or the team to pick up results straight away - and expect your new players to play averagely for at least 10 games - it takes time for them to get used to how you play and build an understanding with their team mates.

And finally some it is down to luck!

I won the PL for about 3 seasons on the trot, but then came 2nd or 3rd for the following seasons - I'm currently 1st but who knows where I'll be by the end of the season. Similar thing happend with the Champions league - I won it 3 times on the trot - improved my squad and got dumped out the next season in the quarters by Paris!! Sometimes that happens in real life too. take coventry beating man u for instance.

So perservere, the devils in the details and don't be afraid to experiment with your formation or indiviudal instructions in the pre-season friendlies - if you arrange about 6 games in the pre-season you'll usually hit ground running.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the post Dewey I do, do alot of work on Tactics, training programs.

One thing I always do is invest in new staff, sort of build a new team around me.

I am a bit like Joe Royal I do excellent in the lower divisions but in the prem I cant seem to beat Man U or Chelski ever! even if I play a 5-4-1 Ultra defensive with long ball counter attacks I still get hammered by wonder goals.

I guess a part of it is being a Liverpool fan my expectations are too high even in the game. lol

I'll keep you posted

I forget who but someone once said the best form of defence is attack - I'd apply this to FM2007 - if you play defensively against Chelsea and Man U - your on a hiding to nothing - chances are they'll have the quality and creativity to unlock your defence (unless you've bought in world class players).

Aurelio/risse and carragher are ok but I'd definitely bring in better players for the others - Agger I found was average at best. My defence looks something like this (not including backup players).

                                      Akinfeev GK

Rafinha/Micah  - Corluka - Douglas/Naldo - Marcelo/Aurelio

Under team instructions I've found matching your defensive line slider with your creativity helps - I use fairly quick tempo, mostly short passes, medium tackling, time wasting is useful if your winning by a goal and hanging on.

Long ball for liverpool??? :D As one of the originators of pass and move (short passes played to feet) I'm surprised you've gone the long ball route.

Yeah let us know hows you go.

Quick update - I suffered a real drop in form (drawing about 5 matches on the trot) morale dropped like a stone - lost a game - then won in Europe - and now on a good run of form - 3rd in Premiership.
