All of my childhood memories surround coin-op video games.
I recently downloaded a pack of Mame32 games and emulator. This one has games from '75 (before some of you's were born) to '92. I must have played about 95% or more of these..
Besides the usual pong and tank, who remembers Gun Fight? Came out in '75. Then there's jungle king. The first game I sucessfully fished on (fishing was when you taped a quarter (that's a 25c piece) to a thread and bobed it up and down getting lower and lower to the triger that gave you the credits). That came out in '82.
My entire childhood from around 11 to 19 was spent playing arcade games. Every memory I have includes one of these damn things. Even today, sounds or visuals will stimulate memories of when young, playing arcade games in places like a chippy, 7-11, laundry mat, traditional arcades... the list goes on.. Hell, my bro and I used to have Christmas Arc as a tradition. We'd head to the arcade after xmas dinner was over just to get away from the family..
Don't even get me started on the pinball.. Anyone remember Black Knight?
No wonder I'm so messed up.
You're messed up because you're Canadish.
I remember half those. I wish I knew where you'd bought that from so I could buy an original copy with money from my bank account.
Crime Fighters, Double Dragon, Rolling Thunder, Toobin' were all my era, that and the Stars Wars - Vector graphics job...I can still remember the tune when you blew up the death star.
hehe, I'm starting to play all of these classics again as they are releasing a lot on xbox live arcade. I've got castlevania (awesome game!) double dragon and my personal fav, golden axe downloaded at the moment :D
There are loads of arcade classics too, defender, dig dug, pac man, gauntlet, robotron, etc. Happy days :yahoo:
