I've updated some of the mods on MH, including Statsme.  You're either gonna lurve it or hate it, but it give a more instant view of how you're doing.  Comments?
Oh, yeah, and vote in the poll above.

Doggers, I think we should do away with stats completely.
It makes people watch the stats too much when they should be concentrating on teamwork.
And then you get the lone wolfs who just want to clear the round up themselves or wait till everyone has gone forward and died to clean up.

I started watching the stats too much at one stage because i was at the top and now they are not working it is much better. Get rid no need.

Might do away with people being called a stats whore then  :x

No not deathwarrant he is an TANGO but he gets himself in the the thick of the action, he just needs to work with people not by himself. but he is getting better and he doesnt keep asking to change the map all the time now.

I suppose this is the place to post my tiny gripe.
Can I turn off the irritating 'Careful, you've been killed 27 times in a row' announcement? I REALLY don't need to be reminded of what an a**e I am!
Also, I'm not sure I want to know that 'I was killed by so 'n' so with a popgun. He caused 180% damage to you and hit you in every part of your anatomy. You didn't even make him sweat'
Thank you, Embarrassed of Chelmsford

ooooohh... an old topic resurected.

Tbh i think the best way to hvae stats is to just have the "he hit you" and "you hit him" announcements and remove the /top15 page.

well said JB.. the hit him and hit you stats are great but no need for top fragers... i dont care if i play a game without a kill as long as i can hinder the other team or give some help to my team ...if u need stats go play alone on a public

Stats are disruptive, no argument!
Every time I go onto a stats server I am wary of the fact that if I have a 0-10 map then my stats are shagged for weeks after. That /rank and /top15 had us all checking round by round the other night and chatting about it. Plus Sadako is no. 2 and I can;t stand his bragging  :P  (joke).
Statsme telling where you were hit and the amount of damage done to your killer, are great. But unfortunately nearly 100% useless cause your killer normally is not the person you thought. ie. aiming at someone else when you got shot from the side or something.

I'd use stats for purposes of picking an elite team only, or showing the weapons players a good with so e.g. the best snipers can be picked for a snipe map. Psychostats with it tweaked to give inceased marks completing the objective is useful. It's less easy to identify good teamplay with stats so giving mroe points for objectives will help, a quick scount down the list identifies the good shots in the team even if they are not top of the points table.

I've disabled the /top15 and /rank functions.  I guess I'm not the only one getting pissed off with lurkers slowly creeping away from their team and then, once they're all dead, picking off the remaining half-dead enemy and starting the next round with "say /top15".

The stats thingie they run on N42 was quite good. There you could only compare yourself with yourself and it was not in game. Checking your k/d ratio for certain maps and efficiency with different weapons made me improve at least. By checking those stats I knew what I needed to practice.

Anything else in stat way is detrimental to the teamplay imho.

Stats never show if you stopped the rush by wounding 4 enemies and by doing so saved the round even if you died.

Picking a team based on stats wouldn't give you the best team imho. By teamplay a group of average players can easily be turned into a well oiled killing machinery.

Sadako makes a good point. I co ran a server in a previous life, and stats really caused a few problems. They work fine on a deathmatch server but are near pointless (and arguably counter-productive) on a  team play based server. Some sort of stats that tell me which weapon I am using most, which map I play worst etc. might be useful, but other than that they serve no purpose....

Have I just made my first serious post on this forum??

......let's make all the maps from cheese and swap guns for fresah water fish.......

It would appear not  :(

HI Greg

good to (see) you again.

and i agree. last night was a good example of the down side of stats. i was playing milita and getting a good kicking as CT. the sides were 3 in each team. but the T's had scores in the 10-0 range, so i don'thave to tell you our scores :(
Anyway. when i asked to have a bit of team balance, i was answed with "whats wrong with them" Only for 20 seconds later, to see  /rank :x  after every exra kill by the T's you would see "/top15"

so i say get rid of them. most people know how good they are, they don't have to see it in lights :?  and after all it's a team game

Well neither me nor Albert wrote a single line with the words "/top15" or "/rank". As for what Trip did I can't say. The guys on your team checked the stats all the time and I thought that to be the reason when you switched to the T side.
I must have missed your message on team balance. I would have switched (and Albert also) if I had seen it, sorry.

Btw didn't DogMeat switch "/top15" and "/rank" off?

i liked the old stats system, where there was a page with your kills, bomb plantings, rank and info on guns and stuff on the deadman site. Not for being a frag-hooer but just to see if i was getting better at it, after all even playing PCS it is still some sort of indication. But like most other people i could see this as being encouraging frag-whorityness so i didn't have a problem with it going.

The other one i liked was 'Most Disruptive' as sometimes i got me name up there, a small reward for softening up the enemy for all you good players to kill off with a gentle poke on the nose before being brutally shot/blown up/knifed to bits...   :D

But really i'm not that fussed as i think you know when you've did and gone done good for your team, but some way of seeing for yourself if your own accuracy fr'instance is getting better over a period of time might be good.

Oh, and something that says "Careful! You've been killed three times in row! But you are a far more pleasant person to be with than those nasty killer fragwhore monkeys, who are probably all cheating anyway..!"
