Title: Change in Membership Standards
Post by: Dr Sadako on October 12, 2007, 02:10:08 PM
Last night OldBloke posted that if you play on a frag server not playing TCS you are not allowed to wear your wings. If you do they will be removed. I think this should be entered into the membership standards so all Bravo/Charlie members know and not risking their wings.

dMw stands for TCS and if we are not playing TCS but are wearing our wings then we are not fulfilling our obligation to show others how we play and to uphold the values for which we stand. Amending playing standards to reflect that seems sensible.

What I mean is that if you are on another server then you should uphold our values which I'm sure you do. :huggy:

As already stated:
QuoteCharlie Company members are committed to the continuing success of both the dMw community and its TCS style of play.  Charlie Company members have demonstrated a mature and positive approach to the community and as such are valued by their quality as teamplayers and community members rather than by measuring their personal stats from the game servers. We expect a mature and exemplary standard of behaviour from Charlie Company members at all times and in all places.

Sadako suggested that this fact should be made more obvious and I agree. I'm not suggesting people shouldn't wear their tags. I am very proud of mine too :)

I don't think that is what Squonk meant. I think he means the addition that members MUST play TCS when wearing the tag on a non dMw server. That is what OB stated.

You can both uphold the statement in bold above and not playing TCS at the same time.

Let OB respond and we will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that OB will stand by his statement irrespectively if I deleted the thread or not. Nothing good was coming out of the thread so I removed it. I figured you would be happy.

I humbly suggest that the discussion on post removal is not done here and I've started a thread in the Head/Section Admin forum to discuss it.

Let's keep this thread in line with the header about wings....

Cheers

I said that if you join a frag server and play just to frag then you had better not be wearing your wings.

Quote from: Dr Sadako;209663If you do they will be removed.

I didn't say that.

It's quite simple for me. I have the TCS ethos ingrained in me ...

dMw = Play as part of a team to complete the objective.

As I said last night - when you enter a server wearing your wings you are an ambassador of dMw's playing style. If you're not intending to play in our style then don't wear the wings - it belittles them.

Ok then I misinterpreted your post with a different wording and I am sorry for that.
The point I wanted to make above is that you can join a server. Follow the dMw ethos and play as a part of a team even though you are not following the TCS boundaries. For example flanking from short A to long A on dust2 when the bomb have been spotted.

Also, now that someone have decided to remove my priveledges from the head admin section you could at least have the courtesy to send me PM and explain the reason for this. I thought that we could discuss and vent anything in the admins sections as it was a community, but obviously I was wrong.

Your privileges in the head admin section were removed because you are not a head admin. the head admins are Doorman Whitey and myself with the addition of Pen for running the LANs. You should not have had access to that section and i'm sorry if by removing the access you feel that something was taken away. You should not have had access to that section in the first place and it was caused by the Super Mod group having access to it when they shouldn't have.

i apologise for omitting the PM.

Fair enough, I am not a head admin. I have posted in that section for some time though and it hasn't been a problem before.

Lets just leave it at that. Seeing how infected this thread is about to be I am glad I removed the other one.

So back to the subject. OB has cleared my misunderstanding. Ammendments to the memberstandards are on it's way I guess.

No hard feelings.

I have a question.....

How many admin sections are there?

I didn't even know there was one above this? I don't much care, but I'm intrigued. If I moan here (Squonk, you're fat) does it go to another forum for discussion, then another to discuss the rights and wrongs of discussing the discussion?

We're all fairly mature here, apart from the obvious, do we need another hierarchical level?

For clarity and transparency ...

TeaLeaf, OldBloke, Blueball and Gandalf have a private area of the forum.

There is another private area where the four people above and the section heads discuss matters.

That's it.

Section Admins (above plus Whitey, Ron)
Game Admins (everyone else except benny and me :narnar:)

PS. Bastet is also a section admin - the game section admins are (I believe): Whitey (CS); Doorman (dMr); BB (BF2); Bastet (WoW)
