I suggest we start a dedicated dust2 CSS server. All Bravo and Charlie members need to play by TCS rules. Guests are not obliged to follow the rules.
While i am not a CS admin, id hope youd accept my 2 cents anyway. I dont think this is a good idea, if a guest would rush T spawn on say train, he could get behind a squad of dMw players not expecting to be shot up the hind end. Nothing quite as annoying as beeing shot from some place there shouldnt be a player by TCS. It might tempt members to run off also.
Your kidding right..:g:
He does have a point.
I'm not sure how a server with a mix of TCS and non-TCS would pan out. I haven't played non-TCS for years, but I would surmise that the TCS'ers would be at a distinct disadvantage?
I thought the idea of the server was not only to find a server where there's a lot of people playing 24/7 (and one which doesn't need too much adminning) but also to give our guys a chance to brush up on non-TCS gameplay to get them ready for ED (like the ladder.....................)
Quote from: Whitey;208601One of the aims of the ladder is to get us match fit again, so that we can re-enter ED. In order to do that I would rather see the ladder run without boundaries and under match conditions.....
It's all about working as a team in a tactical way to complete the objective.
non-TCS is an anathema to most of us but I can see it's necessary to get back into playing on ED. (I'm not sure how one solves the issue of playing with dMw wings though as discussed elsewhere).

Well i dont like the idea at all.
Whe (dMw) are standing for TCS.
And now there some that wants a non TCS server.
Whe always says too the regulars think bout the rules ect ect.
What will they think when they join the server where they before have too play by the rules.:flirty:
I joined this Community cos i was happy with rules on the dMw servers...(still do).
I play now for almost 3 years TCS and i must say i like it very much.
There for i surly not gonna join a frag server.(if he comes)
Ive had a long think about this
i'am not sure its a bad idea it will give members a place to drop onto late at night or in the afternoon (and it should have players on) and yes it would help members get used to playing in a non tcs way for matches etc
after saying that it does go against all the things i stand for tho (thats why iam here in dmw)
if i go on a public server I tend to play tcs anyway, as its the way I play and yeah i do get shot in the back quite a lot:)
imo its really down to the members what do they want ?
and as i said in another thread gives my son somwhere to play i could control :) as there is none on the servers when he plays early evenin
so my conclusion is ....err
For my two cents/pence: A frag server will be a nightmare! Here we are, people who support the dMw ethos, hosting the very thing we abhor. It goes against the grain. As for removing one's wings when on a public; not necessary. After all you are what you are and if you're on a public you don't TK and TW, you complete the objective. Ipso facto, you are a credit to dMw.
Keep spreading the gospel according to St. Fairplay.

:withstupid:
It's all quite confusing....
Mats was not suggesting a frag-fest server. The other thread is gone but there was some valid reasoning behind the idea of having a server.
Is there not some middle-ground between TCS gameplay (where we play using boundaries) and Frag-fest?
Non-TCS is not frag-fest (is it ?) - I thought it was still playing as part of a team to complete the objective was still TCS but without the boundaries?
I've not played in ED - what style do they play? It's not TCS and it's not frag-fest.
I'm not best placed for this discussion as I can't remember the last time I've played CS outside of dMw (I'd rather not play than have to go to another server).
Perhaps someone can enligthen me as the various game play styles?

Ahh grasshopper. If you play to the objective then boundaries will always exist>
Exactly.... (I think).
Anyway at least we know what's what for CS:S. TCS or not. TF2 is complete mayhem!

I wish I said that. :)
but he said it with such panache :norty:

I will add some more explanation to why I think this could be good:
- Fact: there are a lot of dMw players that play on other servers than ours. Reason: they want a game and there are no players on our server and thus join another server. If we provide a server (semi TCS or not) that will attract players and gives us the opportunity to play on it with admin control I think it is a good idea. A few nights ago I pointed out to Whitey that we had 12 players (out of 30 online) playing CSS and not a single one were playing on our servers. If we provided this type of server they would probably play there instead of away.
- I tend to play mornings and late nights some times when there is no one on the dMw servers. I'd rather join a populated server that I have admin rights on if I had a choice.
- It is easier to ask players to move from our own server than if they are on 12 different servers. Spamming friends is tedious and sometimes people do accept your invite.
- Match training. We definitely will need it if we are going into ED again. Playing on a non TCS/semi TCS server will provide us with some useful skills. I do not hope that we are forced to play TCS in matches as well?
- It will not cost us anything.
- We have the hardware and loads of free cpu power.
- Setup time is very little.
- We have had a public CZ server before with almost exact premises and that wasn't a problem.
- If you don't want to connect the dMw name to the server don't advertise it is a dMw server. Just call it e.g. Docs Mad House Server or something. The main point is that we have admin control over it.
I want to point out, for the record, I love TCS and I do believe in the dMw ethos. Do not think anything else. I have been around since the birth of PCS/TCS and I was part of the process to hammer out what today is the dMw community. Even insinuating that I don't support dMw and TCS hurts me very much.
This is NOT a plan to ruin TCS or dMw. If I thought it would damage or ruin anything I wouldn't have posted it in the first place. I have put in loads of hours into PCS/TCS and dMw and I will as long as I find it funny and rewarding (and as long as you are letting me).
The TCS servers provide us with good tactical thinking and teamplay. However, it also gives us a disadvantage when playing matches because enemies tend to show up OOB. A non TCS server provides you with a faster paced game in comparison to TCS, which is good for match experience. Also you can always pick up some new tips and tricks.
dMw have never been static. If we would have been we would have only supported CS as our game. Now we have grown and become an even more vivid community thanks to OB and TL that rescued dMw and letting more games into the club. I bet other games will be added and removed as they have in the past.
