Ah..
(quoted from Drazila)
QuoteSo for those of us that have followed developments at Blizzard might remember that allot of the makers of the Diablo series left to form their own company 4years ago. For the rest of you, now you know. :D
Their first game is called Hellgate London, a post apocalyptic action RPG set in London. An almost completely new concept of combining FPS and RPG with randomly generated 3D levels.
The game will be released 1st/2nd of November in Europe and me and some other old timer SoGies( Vargen, Kreuz most likely, maybe Melans(Theodwyn)) are going to start playing it. So now I am wondering if anyone else has been planning to start playing this game or might be intrigued by this post to start playing. If you are planning to play it please post in this thread so we might gather some SoGies together when it gets realesed.
Some info about the game
This not an MMO though it will have some of the elements an MMO has. It has Single player but multiplayer is only online as far as I know. There will be free online play and there will be Elite online play that will cost about 10$. Elite gives the possibility to create and be officer in guilds, play in hardcore mode( 1 death equals character is dead), more character slots online, PvP and highest level ladders and some more.
The online play is supposed to be similar to that of guildwars, where you have safe havens where you can meet other people but everything outside these havens will be instanced and only accessible by you and your party.
This is an action RPG which means no specific class roles and being swarmed by monsters is more standard then a few mobs. It has 6classes in 3factions at release(might be more for elite users some months after release).
Templars have Guardians(sword and board) and Blademaster(dual wielders)
Cabalists have Evokers(fragile spellcasters) and Summoners(seriously read the name :D)
Hunters have Marksman(gives close to FPS gameplay) and Engineer( release heavily on Drones)
Well I have been typing this while waiting for the SP Demo to download going to play it now and maybe post some thoughts on it afterwards.

Ive been beta testing the online part of the game for about a week now, and its tbh AWSOME... years since ive tried anything like it ;)
I like it. good graphics and gameplay.. bring on the final version..
kerg, NDA is lifted, give us some more goodies!! :D
whos Kerg??? and whats NDA.... i need sleep... POWERNAP TIME!
Played the demo, really enjoyed it, I will definitely buy this game.
I have read reports that it does the Advertising thing, I had seen the nvidea advert in game, but it was by chance and only because I had finished the demo and was messing about. It was a poster in the tube station, it was warn and appeared old, it looked like it belonged, it wasn't out of place.
But worse, I also read that its T&C have some dodgy clauses.
Quote"IGN.com has up a post discussing the new EA/Flagship game Hellgate: London, and the in-game advertisements it includes to facilitate targeted marketing. Though ads in games aren't exactly new, some Beta testers are objecting to their apparently off-putting presence. Users have also noted that accepting the game's EULA means you submit to the collection of 'technical and related information that identifies your computer (http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/34926/Hellgate-London-Includes-Adware), including without limitation your Internet Protocol address, operating system, application software and peripheral hardware'."

oh man.. I'm stuck. who do I give the recording thingy to and where are they??
My thoughts about the Hellgate London MP beta and singleplayer demo:
After playing Hellgate london for a while ive come to the conclusion that Hellgate london is a great game, and has great potential.
First of all, the demo doesnt really show much of the content available, you really get to see a VERY limited amount of the maps, and makes the game seem rather unchallaging, still has a lot of bugs to be sorted.
MP beta on the other hand, bring to the game, what the demo lacks, you get to see the first 2 chapters, (more for some people as they get special access to the rest of the chapters, i havent YET :D )
As the multplayer part is still beta, i wont gives much thought to the stability of that part, tho it still has a lot of work, getting desynched and stuff like that.
Positives
Highly customization of gear, tons of gear, which can all be upgrade through certain buffing items, power upgrade machines, and the likes.
Skill tree's are great (marksman sux a little tho) almost all of them has usefull stuff which makes you feel how your character is progressing through the lvl's, gives you edges in the though fights you need to bring down stuff like the chapter bosses
Challaging content, boss fights are very diversive, most bosses needs different approaches to bring em down without dying, one boss can be easy to kick down in melee where another can be a pain as he might have the lightning ability (killed my blademaster ALOT ;) )
the online part of Hellgate london, is really what gives it the edge to be able to compete as one of the best games this year, you can make party's and go raid some bosses, the instances balance acording to the size and lvl of the grp, and a good grp mixture is needed for the hard bosses. Its not WoW lvl raiding content, but it opens up for a ton of more fun, and Flagship has promised the online part will become harder and more tactical in time
Randomization of instance maps, like in the old beloved diablo two maps are never the same, they get randomized when you enter, and so does the mobs in it.
Negatives
MP beta is still very much beta, a ton of stuff needs to be sorted, but then again its beta.
Tho the game has randomised maps, the maps still get to seem rather similar, not many different map styles, all urban/cellar/tunnel style, but more will prolly be added later
Class balance is pretty crap as of yet, the available content was easy to complete with my blademaster, and my marksman is having a hard time on certain mobs/bosses, its dies ALOT more. Havent tried out the cabalist/envoker/guardian classes yet, but will do soonish enough ;)
these are just just some quick thoughts from me, and only mine.
I cant really say much more as i prolly would be banned if i did (somthing to do with the fact its review of the beta, which you arent allowed to say much about, same reason i wont be posting any SS's)
Tho i like it a lot so far, im just affraid the crappy demo scares off a lot of people, which might have enjoyed the game.
got any question feel free to ask away, and ill try to answer at the best of my ability without breaking any EULA/ToU

I think thats were the demo ends, at least thats how far I got.
OK.. I thought that the plan was to deliver it to Lann or Ladd at Covent Garden station. The thing is is that you can't get to Covent Garden Station (or I can't find it). There's the Steam Tunnels but outside of that (which doesn't go anywhere AFAIAA) that's it..
:/
I've read a few walkthroughs :roflmao:, you have reached the end of the demo. :(
Guess we will have to wait for the game before we can deliver the encrypted message.
disappointed tbh.
Ye after doing the demo i was quiet surprised with it, it doesnt really show much of the game... but a mp demo is due from what i can read on the beta boards... which also tells me mp is almost done :(
Its out on the 2nd November, I've pre-ordered it so I'm sure you can see what it's like at the LAN. If its anything like diablo/2 it will get allot harder and from what I have read the demo doesn't do it justice.
If you preordered it, you should be able to login with a certain redemtion code or something on their site and create your account and start playing right away in the MP beta, and you get to keep the toons you make in the beta when it swaps release
Ordered it on amazon who, sadly, are not in on this deal :(

I think we have got our wires crossed. I already pre-ordered it from Amazon, but they don't do the promotion that gets you into the beta, neither do play from the look of it. Thats the "deal" I was talking about, wrong word to use.
I prefer Amazon to play, play delivery always takes too long.

ah in that way. Thought play.com had the beta-thing going on...Soz.
Play usually is the best for me as they don't charge extra shippingcosts and the UK-sites are alot cheaper then Dutch-sites. Didn't think play was slow though.
I'll see if I can find any sites which sell the beta also...

I'm just an impatient gibbon :D, I just find Play can be hit or miss with postage times.
Really? I've never had anything turn up *after* day of release, games or DVDs, from them (if preordered, of course).
Well after all that, Amazon have the wrong release date, it was released for Halloween but Amazon are releasing on the 2nd November. Hoping its at home for me to play tonight.:yahoo:
If I had gone with play it would have been here by now :g:
Rumors are that Flagship studios are to release a new Demo very soon, i guess they realised that their first didnt really give people much to go on ;)
after the release? why bother..
Well prolly to promote the game a bit ;)

Well I for one shyed away from spending my hard earned cash on this game having played the demo, but if they release another demo i'll certainly download that for free and give it another go, and if it's better i'll buy the game.
