Sadako "reminded" me about the thread (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=21309) for another CS:Server, originally labelled as a "Frag" server but now requested as a server more in line with what we had for CZ where members are expected to play TCS and non members are not punished for going past the boundaries.
I'm sure this type of server would be busy and give those members who do play on public servers somewhere closer to home to play prior to enough dMw players being online to move to Boomer/Meathook. It could also help attract new members, those who show the correct attitude and style of play could be pointed to Boomer/the forum. My main concern is that some members may take the attitude of "they can do it, so will I". I'd also be interested to know if the cost of the additional bandwidth should be considered as I wouldn't want to suggest something that would increase the cost to dMw with something that would have questionable benefit to the community (dust2 only servers do seem to be pretty full most of the time).
The reason for Sadako suggesting this server in the first place was the decline in people playing on Boomer. I'm not sure if this is due to the new games released (EP2,Portal,TF2...), the removal of admin powers to the majority or if it's because the people who normally idle in the early evening have been busy with other things. I do think something needs to be done as I had hoped the initial activity the Ladder had encouraged would have continued longer than it did.
Anyway, I'd like to have a chat about this at the LAN with the Admins attending. For those not going to the LAN, I would be grateful for some opinions/suggestions in advance.

I only have a say on this one, i doubt it will do much good, there is nothing more frustrating then being shot from a place you dont expect fire from by TCS rules (fe places normaly OOB) and thus i for one would not play there.
Boomer still gets some good games, by community standards, and i would rather not have a game going then forgoing on the standards.
Bear in mind though that i dont play much, and thus my look on things might be a bit colored.
I join dMw servers to play TCS; nothing else. I really do not think that it is either beneficial or desirable. We are just going to look like a bunch of muppets getting shot from unexpected places whilst we bravely continue to try and play TCS. I do not see this type of server helping us to show people the benefits of TCS. The only way to do that is to play on a TCS server.
All IMHO of course
I'm not sold on the concept either but it is something we have run in the past (CZ) but with a large mapcycle and if we hadn't found the way to add the signs to show the boundaries, we would probably still be running Boomer this way. I doubt I would play on the server myself as I only want to play TCS on a server with people who only play TCS.
I'm just trying to be fair and consider the options as there are a large number of the current TCS players who do play on public servers on a regular basis, if there are no games going on Boomer/Meathook. I personally don't think this is the answer but I think it does merit talking about :)
Please chip in with any other suggestions :flirty:
No help here Whitey I'm afraid. TCS or nowt as far as I'm concerned. We're not a convoy that has to go at the speed of the slowest vessel! (another way of saying 'don't let our standards drop')
I know I'm in the minority but FWIW I rather like the idea
