whenever I try to be concise I'm told that my message is too short.

Is there a reason that the forum settings are set to a minimum amount of letters?

I realise that just a smiley can be annoying if you are subscribed to a thread, but many times I have to reword my perfectly good reply because the word I want to use isn't long enough.

If there is no particular reason for this rule, can I ask that it be removed or at least reduced to 3 letters?

:D

I found that to and I have to tell you it gets on my bloody nerves. I've got enough trouble in my life without having to put up with this kind of nonsense. This forum must think I've got time on my hands if it thinks I can spend all day typing lengthy replies when a succinct, pithy reply would suffice. Sort it out whoever's in charge.

Coming dear.....

If a reply has that little content then it is probably not worth posting or reading, so save us all the bother please.  That's the reason.

If its worth saying, its worth rewording. Its not often that you run into it, normaly you have more then enough to avoid it

I tried to post a quote on it's own, but it wouldn't accept it.

I really don't see any problem with short posts meself, as long as they contribute something, even a humourous comment.

has there been a problem in the past with short posts that I am unaware of?

Yes there have been problems in the past.  It got to a stage where 80% of the 'new posts' you read ont he forums were simple emoticons or a one word reply adding sod all to the thread.
