Do people still play BF2 anymore? As I've just got it up and running on my new machine!
NinjaFreak still seems to play it over at the BiG-guys.
I've got it on but haven't played it alot lately due to newer games.
I play a game on occasion, however lately not at all. Still good fun!
:DI have it installed, and still play from time to time but at the moment trying to get a decent RANK on battlefield 2142

I remember having a right laugh playing BF2 when it came out, but it seemed that with every upgrade and mod, it(our player base) got a bit more diluted.
shame really cos it was perfectly suited to the dMw ethos
I bought bf2 special forces and have never played it properly because only a few of us had it.
I really miss the tension at the end of Karkand, fighting over the bridge in a stand off....superb.

So true. Arm was a PITA in the chopper. I remember Ranger the same in APC's. The climax being the Christmess thing IIRC. What a blast. An incredibly long fight over the bridge section on the large Karkand that just would not end. What about a Christmess revisisted during hols?? :woot2:

Dude, the highest rank of BF2142 can be achieved in around 3 months with just small times off playing.
Been playing BF2 alot and got up to Major but when one of my favourite servers went down I stopped playing and started BF2142.
Played SF a bit but this version lags alot and didn't really got in to it.

There appears to be enough people interested in this that it's worth asking: Should we bring back BF2 in dMw? I too remember those fantastic Karkand battles that see-sawed back and forth - sometimes taking a couple of hours to reach a conclusion. Brilliant. :)
So, Whaddya think? Maybe a set night to start with and take it from there.

I too have BF2 (I have issues with 2142 :() and would also like to see a dmw BF2 server and would join in if there's room :)
p.s. I'm a Karkand vet :flirty:
The servers are setup and ready to be restarted - they might need latest patch but that can be checked. The only thing is that at present the 2142 server is using the same portsd as BF2 so we will need to setup new ports for 2142 (or kill it as nobody bothers playing on it anyway)
Hmm, looks like I need to re-install BF2. So what patch level are we at and where can I get it?

Uhm... Poe is pointofexistence.com mod, which is really nice.
Then there's the prmm (project reality mini mod) which is ditto.
Aas (no clue) which is a server-side mod that requires flags to be captured in order - this improves game play with few people on large maps.
Rest I have no idea.
We will be running the vanilla BF2 with the server-side AAS mod running. We found this to be the best way to run BF2 outside of the add-on mods.
I'll start a separate post to find the most suitable day for BF2 and I'll start tinkering with the servers on Friday.

Remember to kill the BF2142 server and daemon first as it is using the BF2 ports. Additionally the BF2 voice server on BA2 needs started and the BF2142 server stopped.
