We have used something similar in the past:

Which is currently in disuse to try and premote the forums a bit more, but i wouldnt mind going back to that, it was a nice system.

Have to say i agree with bastet on this 1, sign up site was good and functional. And i don't get the feeling that more ppls read the forum since we gave up the sign up site to promote the forum....

you dont have the right permissions yet, but it isnt in use so doesnt matter much atm
