Tactical planting have been covered within various posts before e.g. this. (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=19215) Knowing your planting possibilities and planting wisely could help your team a lot. On de_marauder for example both bombsites offer plenty of options and the target area on each site is quite large.
At bombsite B people usually plant behind the pair of boxes marked with a red X in the image below. This is an obvious spot as you have good cover from double doors and some cover from the ramp. However, it makes the options guarding the bomb limited. If you want full view of the bomb you need to be on either of the ramp areas or in the back area of the bombsite. Sure you could always be in the other two corridors but you risk missing the defuse.

Looking at the plantable area in the image below you see it is large. You could plant it half way up the ramp toward CT spawn or just at the entrance to the downramp for example. You could of course use the corners close to the ramp which makes it easy to grenade it from some distance with very good damage rates. Planting it on the slope towards double doors requires good cover but it makes defending it very easy as you can pick any spot around the bombsite. Note that you cannot plant on top of the boxes at this site.

You could also try to be sneaky and "plant" the bomb by the tree (see below) which makes it very difficult to see. Sure you can hear it but that's it.

At bombsite A you can use the entire "room" around the marked bombspot. Usually people tend to plant at the two spots I marked in the image below. At this site you can plant on top of the boxes. Two good spots to plant in this site is in the open on the middle left and at the bottom of the slope from middle (lower left corner in the image below).

I recommend checking where the target zone is on each map. It could help your team. If that is not motivation enough you could always do it for those extra three points ... :stroke:
What about.. when you are guarding the bomb with no chance of surviving the rushing Ct's, get out flash nade and pull the pin out, and dodge and delay as long as you can, when you are shot, off it goes, could be the difference between boom or no boom. :flirty:
P.S.
If BK  (or some other knife wielding aggressor) is chasing you, knifing you, in your back, (from memory) swap to HE grenade pull out the pin when the fatal blow is delivered off goes the grenade.

if I had an HE nade I'd lob that first before the flash, I'm a bugger for quickly throwing grenades to save my ass.
Good article and worth noting some points. :D I usually try to plant in a spot that can be covered well, but this is also usually dependant on how likely CT are going to come around the corner while i'm planting and potentiallly in the open.

For me it will depend on numbers of T's and CT's left over.
Some times when you're trying to plant your fellow teammates don't seem to cover you but only try and get to get to that good spot where they can pick off the CT's better, forgetting to cover the guy planting the bomb. I usually try and stand near the bomber untill he plants, then get my covering spot.
Got to say that as a T me and Sadako setup a nice ambush for the CT's on the right of the map. We had the last 6 pinned down in an alley between the bombspots.
Lol @ Sith, just headshot him, much easier.
I'm currently trying to knife a bit aswell when I have the opportunity which ends up sometimes in a big laugh for both sides but sometimes I'm lucky to get a few people.

I've noticed an increase in the number of times people are going for knife kills. It can be funny but not when your the last man alive and lose the round for your team mates by going for a knife kill. Killing someone with the knife when you run out of bullets or are stuck in close combat is valid at any time.
(not aimed at you DuVel just a general observation)
I think a lot of the planting in cover is down to people not knowing the map very well. But after this post I've notice it improve a lot, especially as I've been CT every time and the games have been very good (and hard).
OT@Knifes - Knifing is a bad habit of mine from GunGame, specially if I see a back (instant kill and fairly quiet). Now we mention it I do wonder whether it gets taken too far at the detriment of TCS. Perhaps a topic for discussion else where.
good post btw :)
None taken, I´ve found out the same thing.
There´s a few people after my dogtags aswell it seems. Might have to do with some payback.
For me it´s normally: Main weapon; MP5, Galil,, M4 or P90, are these out of bullets, fast switch to pistol, depending on the opponent; over to knife.
@ Jamoe, I just told the same thing to Whitey.
On Topic;
The map has alot of good spots to defend/attack from. Nice close quarters and some long ones. T's can do various things (rush or pickoff)but what you don't need to forget as a CT is the fastest way between bombspots.
Oh, and also; if the opposite teams rush; Know where you meet them if you both rush.
QuoteA nice flash a day can keep them rushers away

Duvel remember the wall? Perhaps the next tactic could be on climbing.
