I read somewhere that Baghdad Ferrari (the black one, not the Testarossa) belonged to one of the Saddam's sons. After US captured Baghdad, angry people mutilated it...I guess they didn't like the owner :rolleyes:
It is often so that a car gets abandoned into some place because it is in bad condition and not worth much at the time. When decades pass the car becomes rarer and becomes soon worth some money. For example think a bad condition Ford Focus which is not worth a penny or rare. In 2050 people might be ready to pay (lot) for it.
Also I don't understand all the comments in the page. The Ferrari 330 2+2 is certainly not in a bad condition in the pic (unless there is something in interiors or the right side not visible in the pic). But I doubt it would have anything not worth fixing. Also a very rusty car can be repairable. Basicly it just requires it is not rusted through so that there is some metal left under it. Of course the rustier it is the rarer the car must be before anyone wants to start a big restoration project.
Anyway, quite sad looking cars in the pics :sad:
That E-type Jag is maybe the prettiest car ever made (the early models and especially the convertible). I've read that it has some nasty rust problems and finding a good quality E type can be hard and they are going to cost a pretty penny.
that link has just left me so sad. The Miura especially.
One of my friends works with his Dad and Brother in their own private Classic car repairs and restoration business.
They document the start to end process with photographs its truely amazing what you can do with a car which appears to be a bucket of rust.
Plus they get the joy of owning some sweet motors! Atm John drives a very rare Mini Copper S which was dragged out of a quarry damn and Luke drives a 3.6ltr Ford Capri in a beautiful British racing green It had been in a smash and burnt out completely.
The restoration was awesome - I'll ask him if he minds me posting some pictures if anyone is interested
