REPLAYS (http://www.finnglish.co.uk/Stuff/BL1_friday.zip)for Friday night. Grab them quick, they won't be there long!
Thanks again mate!
So the race isnt today?(just guessing because you put replays of Friday) :(
yes, it is today. Dunno why he wanted replays. Maybe he wants to spectate himself. :)
I know the answer to this. Because Iron wanted the replays of last Friday night when he had some success for a change. :sideways:
So nothing to see here, move along please.
I think me and Oldie got engine damage early in the race. I was flat shifting, came aware of that when watching Deetz in the replay. Then I crossed the finish line after the 60min limit, but would have needed another lap to finish, but had no fuel left. I had 46% in the start. I guess that the bad engine consumed a bit extra.
EDIT: after reading this http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=11421 I think the engine damage was caused by me changing to the lower gear too early (engine braking is it?). A bit strange though, since I don't remember of suffering from this so bad before.
Hmmm...interesting. I had 48% which was fine. I noticed week ago FXO doesn't like if you flat shift it all the time. The result wasn't damaged engine for me, but a heated clutch.

my clutch was ok

If you flat shifted all the time that is really odd.
...unless...do you use manual clutch?

I think it was caused by engine braking. No, I'm not currently using the clutch pedal.

OK, you two get off my back now, will ya! :ranting2: :D
There were some... interessing moments, which I wanted to check.
Silly qustion time..........
Whats "flat shifting"?

Changing up a gear without releasing the gas pedal. Not good for the clutch (usually)
cheers
As Romus says - engine was damaged (clutch was fine) but the reason is a complete mystery as I did nothing different to what I've been doing all week. :sideways:
I suspect it's all Doorman's doing.

Watching the replay, on lap three at the end of the long straight, you engine braked past 9k (7k redline) and a slight missfire can be heard at the redline afterwards. By lap thirteen when everyone was catching you up, your engine was sounding rough throughout the rev range compared to Voblers. I must have damaged mine early on too as it didn't feel as lively as usual.
I guess the engine damage bit has changed in the recent patch and become more subtle. It used to pop and miss when damaged but now it's more an engine tone change with a few missfires and down on power.

Ahhh. Well spotted Watson. :thumb:
I'd still like an indicator of engine damage as I certainly didn't detect the audible difference.

I think the indicator is the long line of traffic behind you:narnar:

How about using the other cars are catching and passing you as a hint :roflmao:

Plese dont mention redline, it gives me the creeps.
By the way do Shoemakers use Evostick?

OK. OK. It was a particularly stupid thing to say given the circumstances :D

Um, is engine damage permanent on your install then, as I've been suffering this for years? :crying:

I reckon it's an audible client side indicator that goes something like "I don't seem to have any power" and "I can only get 130 down the back straight" and the one I like the best is "I'm being left behind by Doorman" :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I remember overtaking you in the race at the back straight. You were going like a snail. I remember wondering that you must have had some sort of problems.
At least before the patch FXR was notorious for blowing off a valve or two if you kept flat shifting. In longer races this was clearly noticeable as your top speed dropped towards end of the race (and occasiaonal popcorn sounds from the engine). In the new patch with clutch heat etc, I try to get rid of the habit. I think all cars more powerful than XFG and XRG gets clutch heat so much you'd better not flat shift (so often at least). This is not so for cars which are ment to be flat shifted.
